Giving Thanks 2018  to our many Friends and Supporters

The Friends of the Farm at Hilltop gives thanks to all the volunteers and partner organizations that help make Hilltop Farm a vibrant community resource throughout the year.

Thanks to our special volunteers, Tom and Joan Heffernan , who were recognized as the 2018 Volunteers of the Yea r. Tom and Joan have been overseeing the maintenance of the gardens in addition to lending a hand, anytime, on any project. 
 
Thanks to Eagle Scout,  Michael Sattan of Suffield Troop 260 for building a self guided trail and identifying trees in the Hilltop Farm Open Space.

Thanks to the 2nd Saturday Workday crews who do so much maintenance on farmstead and open space at Hilltop:

We give thanks for special volunteers, Stephanie Davidson and Kathy Werth who help with the set up and management of the Annual Silent Auction 

Thanks to the  Dubiel and Conway families for constructing the Farm Fest "kid's barnyard area" that all the little ones always find so much fun.

Thanks to Suffield High students for volunteering to help out at Farm Fest. 

We are appreciative of our Nature Educators, Danel Eitel, Meghan Ambra, Allison Zaczynski, and Meghan Ambra. The Summer Nature programs were so much fun.

We appreciate Allison Zaczynski's introduction of Yoga in the Barnyard. We look forward to her return in the spring with Sunday morning yoga.

Thank you to the Suffield Police Explorers and Suffield Volunteer Ambulance Association for coming up to Hilltop to support our major events. 

We hope that you enjoyed attending other programs FOFAH organized for the community at Hilltop; The Superbowl Sunday Fun Run, Orchard Workday and Wassail, the 21st Annual Great Backyard Bird Count, Earth Day, Monster Tag Sale and Flea Market, CT Trails Weekend, and several Paddle Faster Bluegrass Music Concerts.

We appreciate the work of the CT DEEP, who monitor the health of our new Hilltop Eaglets each year. We also are thankful to the volunteers who keep an eye on their status prior to hatching. This picture was taken by our own Bobbie Rogers, who was invited to photograph the banding by the CT DEEP staff.

T hanks to the students and staff of Pine Meadow Academy for coming every Thursday morning to do chores and do regular work  at the farm. We also appreciate the work of the students of Suffield Academy for their work in the orchard and chicken coop. 

A special thanks to the 5 women of a service learning class at  Bay Path College who painted the interior of the Farm Store, that FOFAH plans to open in Spring 2019. They also helped with other projects for our organization.

We are thankful for Suffield HS Agri-Science student, Sydney Eitel, who is working diligently on her project to bring chickens to the chicken coop. We also appreciate the friends and family members who have been helping her to repair the building. Also a special thanks to the Suffield Rotary Club for the support of this project.  

Thanks to local artists and photographers Richard Binns, Libby Lord, Kevin Prior, Ray Pioggia, Laurie Tavino, and John Turcotte for sharing their creative talents.

We are so appreciative of Kacy Colston, FOFAH's Administrative VP, who keeps our programs and activities going.

We are grateful for the grants and financial support we received through the year through sponsor and donors. 

We thank the Mrs. James Sage Coburn Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving in their funding to stabilize the roof of House #3-The Poulter's House.  

Thanks to the J. Gladwin Cannon Trust for their grant to fund the drilling and building of a well at the farm.

Thanks to the North Central District Health Department for their continued support through Fruit Trail grant that provided funding to add blueberries to our "Secret Garden" and improve the soil in the community garden. 

FOFAH greatly appreciates Anonymous of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving for providing the funding for a handicap accessible golf cart to assist our visitors in visiting around the farm. 

Thanks to the Friends of Suffield for their grant that helped fund kids summer programs at Hilltop.

FOFAH is an all volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to restoring Hilltop Farm into an educational and recreational resource for the community. All donations go to the improvement of the farm. Many thanks to the volunteers for their dedication and community support that has allowed FOFAH to advance the restoration of the Hilltop Farmstead.
