Juneau Lyric Opera and Gold Town Nickelodeon announce open auditions for HERE'S LOOKING AT YOU,
CASABLANCA
, an immersive cabaret experience inspired by the iconic film. For two weekends this November, the Rockwell Ballroom will be transformed into Rick's Café Américain, Morocco, 1941. All of our favorite songs and characters will be there, brought to life by a charismatic cast in period costume, interacting with guests while playing out some
Casablanca
-style scenarios. Each evening will culminate in a screening of the film.
Auditions:
By appointment 1-5 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at the Gold Town Nick, 171 Shattuck Way in downtown Juneau. Callbacks will be Sunday, June 24. Expect some combination of interview, cold reading, improvisation, and very basic singing - no preparation is required, although familiarity with the film
Casablanca
and some experience with improvisational performance will be helpful.
Show Dates:
November 9-11 and 16-18, 2018, in the Rockwell Ballroom. Rehearsals will begin in September; the rehearsal schedule, weeknights and weekends TBD based on performers' availability, will be lighter than for a typical theatre or opera production and will include some improv training. Bonus: No lines to memorize!
