SIGN UP FOR TEXT MESSAGE ALERTS FROM RIVERTON CITY
Riverton City has just launched a text message alert system and is encouraging residents to sign up to receive the alerts. The purpose is to notify residents or other interested parties of important city updates, emergency notifications, and events of broad community interest.

PLANNING FOR OUR FUTURE: RESIDENTS ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE IN SOUTHWEST VISION PROJECT
We are pleased to see the launch of the Southwest Vision project. The goal of the project is to help the southwest communities of Riverton, Bluffdale, Copperton, Herriman, South Jordan and West Jordan set a clear and coordinated vision for the future. You can get involved in the project the following ways:

JOIN THE CHOIR TO SING AT THIS YEAR'S CHRISTMAS NIGHT OF MUSIC CONCERT
Riverton City is encouraging all who enjoy singing to join the community choir to sing at the annual Christmas Night of Music Concert on December 9! Practices will be held on Thursday evenings in November (excluding Thanksgiving) at 8:30 p.m. Participants must be at least 16 years old.

BUSINESS LICENSE APPLICATIONS NOW ACCEPTED ONLINE
In an ongoing effort to promote a thriving business climate, Riverton City is excited to announce it is now much easier to submit a business license application. The city is now accepting new business license applications completely online, which means you don't have to print off and mail in an application or come in to City Hall to submit one.

Also, don't forget that it is FREE to do business in Riverton since standard business licensing fees were eliminated last year!

Awards & Recognitions
EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION AWARDS PRESENTED TO RIVERTON HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, TEACHER
Mayor Trent Staggs and the Riverton City Council recognized Riverton High School students Lauren Costanza (12th Grade) and Tanner Roger s (12th Grade), as well as teacher Mr. Adrian Ramjoue (11th-12th Grade Language Arts), with the Riverton City Choice Awards for Excellence in Education at their October 1 meeting.

OFFICER EJ ESTRADA RECOGNIZED WITH INCENTIVE AWARD
Officer EJ Estrada with the Riverton Police Department was presented by Chief Don Hutson to the Riverton City Council for recognition with an Incentive Award. The recognition comes following quick action on Officer Estrada’s part that saved the life of a Riverton resident.

COUNCIL RECOGNIZES OUTGOING PLANNING COMMISSIONER
James Endrizzi was recognized for multiple years of service as a member of the Riverton City Planning Commission by the Riverton City Council in their October 1 meeting. His position has been filled by Grant Lefgren, following nomination by Mayor Staggs and approval by the City Council.

Riverton City has partnered with the new South Valley Chamber to support Riverton businesses. All businesses, large or small, are encouraged to join. First Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Grand Opening
First BJJ will hold a public grand opening on Saturday, October 19 from 10:30 a.m. to Noon at their location at 12678 S Redwood Road in Riverton. All are invited!

First BJJ is focused on “equipping their members young and old, male and female alike with the most effective self-defense/martial arts instruction in the world. BJJ is a non-striking martial art.” They offer classes for all ages starting at about 5 years old and up.

Riverton City's glass recycling bin is located just off 13400 S on 4050 W, east of both the Maverik and South Hills Middle School and west of Holiday Oil Chevron. Click here for a map or recycling details.

Secondary Water Shut Off
Riverton City anticipates that the secondary water system will be shut off on Tuesday, October 15. The shut off date is dependent on how long canal companies keep the canals open, so it's possible the shut off date may come sooner if canals are shut off early.

Voter Registration Deadline
The last day to register to vote prior to the November 5 City Council election is Tuesday, October 29. Their are contested races is Council Districts 2 and 5. Click here to view the district map. Click here to register to vote online. This is a vote by mail election and ballots will be mailed the week of October 14. NOTE: If you've moved since you last registered, you'll need to re-register to vote.
