Day Camp & Counselor Training Opportunities
YWCA Carlisle knows the importance a summer day camp experience can make for young children during the break from the regular school year - providing campers a way to experience new activities they may not normally be exposed whether at school or home. Young Wonders (YOWO) camp, running the weeks of June 4-August 13, has openings for this summer.  Since this may be a child's first independent time or activity away from mom and dad, a child can strengthen emerging skills of making new friends, taking care of their own belongings, trying new activities, and taking risks. It's a great time to grow while enjoying summer fun! Additionally, supportive and nurturing camp counselors (trained and primarily college students) help enhance the experience for each camper and embrace the agency's diversity and inclusive culture that mirrors its mission pillars of Eliminating Racism and Empowering Women and Girls. Males are not excluded from camp and are welcome as campers and staff.  For camp registration information, click here.

Another day camp opportunity exists for Counselors-In-Training (CITs) and while no compensation is provided, the CIT program is a wonderful opportunity for high school aged youth to develop leadership skills, earn community service or volunteer hours, get practical job experience, and to learn about working at a summer day camp as a counselor. CIT's can volunteer for as many weeks as they'd like throughout the 11 week summer camp.  For more information or to apply, please contact Robin Scaer at 717-243-3818 or [email protected] .
