YOUR BUSINESS. BETTER.
The goal of the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) is simple: to empower business owners and entrepreneurs to make businesses in southeast NC more competitive and more profitable. In the first half of the year, our Business Counselors have had the pleasure of assisting 285 for-profit existing and pre-venture businesses in Brunswick, Columbus, Duplin, Onslow, Pender, and New Hanover counties.

We customize each client engagement to meet the needs of the business owner to help them meet their next milestone for success. Often, business counseling services may include a ProfitCents® analysis to help assess or benchmark current profitability or using research tools such as Simply Analytics, RefUSA, or IBISWorld to perform market or competitive research. The SBTDC also offers targeted services to help your business such as selling to the government, international business development, and technology development. Learn more about targeted services here. If you aren't already a client and would like to sign up for no-cost, confidential business assistance, click here.
ANNUAL SUCCESS STORY:
GREEN CLEAN AUTO SPA
Learn about UNCW SBTDC client John Hunter, full-time Marine and founder of Green Clean Auto Spa in Jacksonville, here. He was selected as one of the SBTDC Small Business Super Heroes this year. Congratulations, John!

Please join us in welcoming Diane Lantz, a new Business Counselor with the UNCW SBTDC. She recently relocated to Wilmington, NC from upstate New York. Diane has a passion for helping small business and the transition to SBTDC was a logical choice. Prior to her current position, she was Assistant Vice President, Business and Professional Banking at M&T and Executive Director of REDEC/RRC, a regional not for profit economic development organization that focused on small business financing. Diane has a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Penn State University.

Diane is excited to assist small and medium sized businesses in the Wilmington area and to make Wilmington her home with her husband Gregg who is also a small business owner. She can be contacted at [email protected] or 910.962.2869.

Ready to explore government contracting opportunities for your small business? On June 13 from 9-11 a.m., Scott Barker from the North Carolina Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) is going to be teaching a seminar about how to register your business with the government, how to identify opportunities to sell products or services to federal, state, or local governments, and how to increase the competitiveness of your business so you can win contracts.

SUCCESS STORY: PANACEA BREWING
Have you visited Panacea Brewing or tried some of their Kombucha at other venues around town such as Wrightsville Beach Brewery? Kombucha is a tangy, non-alcoholic drink that is from fermenting sweet tea. Like many entrepreneurs, Artie and Robin Hill started this venture as hobby enthusiasts but they saw the market opportunity and seized it in 2016. Robin came to the UNCW SBTDC to help her as her business expanded rapidly. Some of the ways we have helped Panacea Brewing is by identifying new customers and helping to grow revenue. Stop by and visit them some time! Panacea Brewing is at 102 Old Eastwood Rd, Suite A5, Wilmington.
MANAGING YOUR ONLINE PRESENCE
In May, Toya Wilson-Smith, CEO of NexGeneration Digital Marketing Agency, co-founder of Simply Social a social media educational company, and UNCW SBTDC Regional Advisory Board member, offered a SBTDC seminar about "Managing Your Online Presence". The response was outstanding - thank you to Toya for sharing her knowledge and to everyone that attended! Did you miss the seminar? Watch part of it by starting playback below.
