Kids Link-Dating: Basics and Beyond

REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR THE FALL SESSION!
Did you know? Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are 160 times as likely to die from drowning? We at ASGA believe swimming classes should be an intervention of top priority, so we have once again partnered with the
Akron Area YMCA
to implement our 10-week water safety program, "Swimming with Autism."
Program Requirements:
- Participants must be age 6 through adult
- Must be diagnosed with autism or other developmental disability
- Have the ability to walk unassisted
- Be able to work one-on-one with a swim instructor
Dates and Times: This is a 10-week program offering 30-minute one-on-one lessons twice each week on Mondays and Thursdays. The next session will begin on October 17th.
Location: Lessons are offered at the Kohl Family YMCA located at 477 E Market Street, Akron OH 44304.
Parents are expected to attend a mandatory parent orientation prior to the start of the program at the YMCA.

Scene75 is offering a FREE program for those with special needs. The program has been developed to help improve social and motor skills, hand and eye coordination, reaction time, and recognition... all in a safe, controlled, and FUN environment.
You must register in advance at:
WHY IS SCENE75 OFFERING THIS UNIQUE PROGRAM?
Research has shown that video gaming can help develop social and motor skills, improve hand/eye coordination, reaction time, and recognition.
- WHAT DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES ARE AVAILABLE TO BUILD SKILLS?A $10.00 Arcade Game Card granting access to play any of our over 100 arcade games. Arcade games help with reaction time, hand and eye coordination, recognition, and motor skills.
- One Spin Zone Ride – A fun dodge-car experience that helps with reaction time, recognition, as well as motor and social skills.
- Nine Holes of Black Light Mini Golf in one of our two themed courses. Mini Golf helps with hand/eye coordination, social skills and motor skills.
There is no age restriction on the person with special needs.
SIBLINGS
Siblings can, and are encouraged to, participate to make things easier and more comfortable for the individual with special needs. However, attractions for siblings are not free. Siblings can purchase the same game card for a discounted price of $14.99 each.
PARENTS AND GUARDIANS
Parents and/or Guardians are required to stay and help the person with special needs. There must be no more than 4 special needs individuals for every chaperone that comes. It will make the person with special needs and the Scene75 Staff Members more comfortable, making the experience more enjoyable for everyone!

Respite night for kids with disabilites

What's recess?
rEcess is a monthly "respite night" program designed to give hardworking parents of kids with disabilities a night off. Meanwhile, their kids (and siblings) get to hang with amazing volunteers at the church in a fun, safe space designed just for them!
Can I come to rEcess?
Yes! We'd love to have you at rEcess! The rEcess program is designed for kids up to age 15 who have disabilities. Siblings (up to age 15) are also invited to join them!
We aren't able to offer rEcess to families without a large team of dedicated volunteers. If you have any interest in serving these families by being a buddy to a child with a disability, or their sibling, we would love to have you as a volunteer at rEcess!

Join Jonah Lakin, Psy.D., of the OCD & Anxiety Center of Cleveland, as he discusses these questions, as well as the difficulties families face when a child has OCD. Attendees will learn about evidence-based strategies they can use to support, encourage and help their children.
