Museum To Reopen May 28th
Monthly Dinners Still on Hold

Can someone please reboot 2020?

The Estrella Warbirds Museum is looking forward to Thursday, May 28th, as we will be able to open our doors and greet visitors from around the world (providing they can still get into California)!  Expect a few 'mandated' changes, but we will be open for business.  It has been too long, but we will survive and we are hoping and praying everyone has made it through ok.  We are also saddened by the loss of some friends and family.  Let's all keep it safe!

One of the changes we are enduring are the requirements to limit the number of people for dinner gatherings. It looks like we are limited to 50 or less at this time. Until the restriction is lifted, we will NOT be holding our monthly dinners.  This may happen within the next month (or two or more), but we want to keep everyone safe and healthy.  We will keep you posted.

Now is the time for all volunteers and those who wish to become a volunteer at the museum to check in with us and get on the schedule!

Thanks for your understanding during this time period.  We are looking forward to seeing everyone once again at the Estrella Warbirds Museum & Woodland Auto Display.
Memorial Day
Estrella Warbirds Museum is proud to honor all our friends, family and  acquaintances who served their country and have since passed on.

If you are around the Paso Robles area, watch the skies for the Freedom Flight crew as they fly over  paying tribute to the fallen.

For all the fans of our C-47B, Betsy's Biscuit Bomber, heads up! Betsy and crew will be joining other members of the D-Day Squadron as they fly over the Los Angeles basin area paying tribute on Memorial Day. You can access their schedule and follow their progress via  their website or on Estrella Warbird Museum Facebook page

On the header picture above is shown members of a graduating class in 1943 for a US Navy F4U aircraft carburetor mechanic school just prior to all of them being shipped to Guadalcanal and the Solomon islands.  This writer's father, Robert L Visel, Sr, is the young handsome guy on the far left (one of the few who did not sign the photograph).  All have since left the surely bonds of earth.

When Jennifer Loewen and John Nicholds were searching for a unique venue to host their wedding, little did they know that their final decision would create an unforgettable atmosphere and experience resulting in lifetime memories, not only for them, but also for their guests. What happened on March 14th, 2020, was truly a magical event! The following video of their wedding on the taxiway and later reception at Hangar 1, Estrella Warbirds Museum, gives hope and inspiration not only for them but also for all of us at the museum and the Central Coast!

Special thanks to Theodore Ramirez, composer of music, videographer Mason Mitchell along with Photographers Chelsea and David Hunstberger!

When things "get back to normal" and you are looking for a unique setting for your company or private event, contact the man who arranged to make the above event happen: Kevin Neuman, our Facilities Rental Specialist at 805 674-3939.
Updates the Woodland Auto Display

Having had a bit of time to stop, assess, and refresh while the museum was required to be closed, we have been busy!  Been catching up on displays and photos we hadn't had a chance to complete. The main project, however, was starting from scratch with our automobile "mini library."  It now has approximately twice as many books than previously. There are numerous biographies which are really interesting, as well as numerous books related to automobile racing, both in the US and abroad. There is also a section which covers the history of the automobile as well many of the various marques from Ford to Bugatti, Ferrari, and the likes.

Thursday, May 28th at 10:00 a.m.,  the doors are once again flung open, we will be set up to have these books checked out by EWM members, as well as by our local visitors from Paso Robles, Templeton, Atascadero, San Miguel, etc.

Flown on board Betsy's Biscuit Bomber during the commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of D-Day and signed by dignitaries in Normandy, this piece of history could be yours!  All proceeds go towards the construction of a new hangar at Estrella Warbirds Museum, which will house the C-47B. Click here for more information on this unique opportunity.

Due to our recent temporary closure, we felt it best to move the drawing to a time when we know everyone has the opportunity to be present.
