Sunday, June 3 is Nurse Appreciation Day
Nurses are the basis of health care, and we’d like to show a little appreciation by giving a market tote to all nurses with ID.

Progressive Care Unit
The Progressive Care Unit at Mercy Medical Center will be providing free blood pressure screening services during the Farmer’s Market on the following dates: June 17, July 15, August 19, September 16 and October 21. Many thanks to this group of nurses specializing in caring for Stroke patients at Mercy Medical Center!

Pick of the Week Recipe: Spring Salad

Cool rains in spring make for the best lettuce of the year, not to mention the asparagus, peas and spring onions! Mix this together for a wonderful salad, add nuts, an egg or another protein and you have an amazing meal!
Spring Salad, serves 2 or 4 as a side
- 1 Pound mixed Lettuces, washed, dried and torn gently into bite-size pieces.
- 1 Bunch Spring Onions, white/red part sliced thinly
- 1 Cup fresh shelled Peas
- ½ Bunch fresh Asparagus
- 1/8 Cup Seeds like pumpkin, sunflower, etc…
- 3 Tablespoons sweet Vinegar like a white balsamic or mango balsamic
- 1 Tablespoon Dijon Mustard
- 3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
- Salt and Pepper
Instructions:
- Put about 2 quarts of water in a pot with 2 tablespoons of salt and heat to boiling. Fill a large bowl with cold water and ice and place near your sink.
- Wash the asparagus in a couple of changes of water. Break off the tough ends then cut into 1” pieces.
- Rinse the peas. Boil the peas and asparagus for 2 minutes. Drain and immediately put peas and asparagus in the iced water for a minute or two, then drain.
- Whisk together the vinegar and mustard, slowly whisk in the oil until thick and creamy. Toss in the onions to coat.
- Arrange your lettuce on the serving plates. Stir the peas and asparagus into the onions and dressing then spoon on top of the lettuce. Sprinkle with the seeds*, cracked pepper and drizzle the residual dressing over. Serve.
* heat the seeds for a couple of minutes in a little pan to deepen their flavor!

PEACES also create pouches, backpacks, yoga mat carriers, elegant wraps and more, all locally handmade, primarily from re-purposed fabrics. PEACES' mission is to create sustainable markets and systems for handcrafted and recycled fashions and décor, that also help contribute to the economic and educational development of our community. PEACES uses a portion of their sales to offer an introductory sewing class to help continue this time-honored tradition.

*Compliments of Mercy Medical Center, patrons can park for free in the Mary Catherine Bunting Garage, located at 330 Guilford Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21202, for two hours (maximum) from 7am to noon.
Vehicles should enter through the Pleasant Street entrance. Bring your ticket to the Welcome Tent for validation.
A Friendly Reminder About Pets at the Market
Pets are not allowed at the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar, and it is a Baltimore City Health Department ticketable offense of up to $1,000.00.
