Spirituality and Bereavement
null
I am super excited to announce that I will be teaching an online class in September through the San Francisco Theological Seminary. Teaching in an academic setting has been a big dream of mine, and I am honored to have been invited by the seminary's Applied Wisdom Institute to teach a class on  Spirituality and Bereavement.

This class is a great opportunity if you are:

. A professional needing CEUs (12 contact
  hours available).

. Interested in attending my grief       workshops  but have not had a chance to.

. Interested in learning more about the     intersection of spirituality and psychology in    relation to the grief journey.

. Developing a career as a grief counselor,   chaplain or spiritual healer.

These are live, interactive sessions that will take place  on Wednesdays for  September 12 to October 17, from 4:30 - 6:30 pm (Pacific time).

The cost is only $300, and you'll have a chance to work with two of my esteemed colleagues as guest teachers...  Rev. Dr. Tim Langdell, a pediatric clinical chaplain who  is both a Buddhist priest and a Catholic priest, and Stephen Findley, staff chaplain at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Beautiful PBS Film About End-of-Life

With apologies for the occasionally problematic subtitles, this touching film aired on PBS last year, and makes a beautiful statement about facing end-of-life as an elderly couple.  8Kang Gye-Yeol and Jo Byeong-Man are married and have lived together for 76 years. While Kang and Jo spend every day like a newlywed couple, they now must face the reality of their aging romance.  My Love, Don't Cross that River  captures the fleeting moments of their twilight days.

Missing a Rare, Literally Once-in-a-Lifetime Opportunity to Love someone to Death
by Brant Huddleston

Forty three years ago I became a born-again Christian. And 30 years later I took leave of the faith, giving myself long overdue permission to embark on a spiritual journey that was beautiful for what it  didn't  tell me, and for what it didn't claim  to answer. My new path allowed me to sit with the grand wonder of it all... no boxes, no boundaries, no absolute truth. Just  love.

This is a story of how, during my evangelical years, I missed the opportunity to love one of the most important people in my life during his final hour, because I was still the prisoner of a rigid ideology.    READ MORE...
