Dear Families,
We are committed to making Remote Learning, end-of-year transitions, and celebrations positive and engaging for our students as we approach the last two weeks of a very unique school year. While we remain focused on the current tasks at hand, our administration, Board, and staff are simultaneously looking ahead to our 2020-2021 school year. Please keep in mind that
the re-opening of schools for in-person instruction is not a local decision and is contingent on meeting regional health metrics found in the May 5th Governor's Restore IL Plan.
Overview of Planning Scenarios
In general, our planning centers around three scenarios that require instructional preparation and specific health/operational procedures:
Scenario 1:
Full Attendance with in-person learning inclusive of modified practices (ex. limiting large group gatherings)
Scenario 2*:
Partial Attendance with in-person learning inclusive of modified practices (ex. half of the student body attends school at a time)
Scenario 3:
Remote Learning with plans that will be refined over the summer to enhance the student experience.
It is likely we will need to be prepared to blend scenarios 2 and 3 in the fall given the current health forecasts. Also, planning will account for specific health needs of individual students and staff that would preclude in-person attendance.
Communication Timeline & Decisions
District teams are diligently working to ensure we remain up-to-date on evolving health guidelines and best-practice operational procedures. We have also dedicated time for educators to make District-aligned curricular, instructional, technological, and assessment plans for next school year. Ensuring we implement the best plans in the fall also requires us to include feedback from our parents and students.

Student registration opened allowing us to monitor enrollment. This is critical for effective Fall 2020 planning.
Week of June 1: S
urvey parents and students to help inform Fall 2020 plans. This will also involve follow-up focus groups.
Mid-July: C
ommunity update on status of Fall 2020 planning and schedule.
Early August:
Community announcement of Fall 2020 Schedule and expectations.
Remote Adventures in Learning: Registration NOW Open
Last week, I provided an update on our Adventures in Learning summer program, which will offer remote courses for students in grades 3-8. Registration is now open for Winnetka residents
