PDF Builds the Capacity of Grassroots Organizations
Thanks to the flexibility and commitment of our donors, PDF continues to offer capacity building trainings, including The Sustainability Project, during the COVID-19 pandemic via Zoom. The Sustainability Project is a three-year partnership between PDF trainers and approximately 15 grantees with the goal of empowering organizations to improve their fundraising capacity, financial management, and leadership development.

"After just a few months with The Sustainability Project," says Luke Woodward of Pa'lante Restorative Justice, "we have more tools to get our fundraising planning efforts off the ground, including creating a donor recognition plan, organizing our donor lists, and getting a good start on creating a five-year fundraising plan!"
The Cooperative Economics Alliance of New York City, one of the 16 participants in the program, said, "The PDF Individual Donors fundraising training we did was definitely better than expected. As someone who does not fundraise on a regular basis or for work, I am uncomfortable with the task of asking people - especially individuals! - for money. PDF focused on setting goals and effective strategies for meeting those goals. PDF provided concrete information and tactics, which I found very helpful and made me feel more prepared to raise funds than I did before!"

The Sustainability Project is open to applications from PDF's recent grantees and fiscally sponsored groups. When you support PDF you help us provide not only grants, but capacity building trainings to grassroots organizations. Make a gift to PDF today!
Women Cross DMZ grows into its own;
Stands up as Women Peacemakers
Please join PDF in saying farewell and wishing the best to Women Cross DMZ, who has exited our Fiscal Sponsorship program, fulfilling their goal of standing up under their own 501(c)(3) status. Women Cross DMZ has been with PDF since 2015, the same year they organized a historic crossing of the Korean Peninsula De-Militarized Zone (DMZ) with thousands of women, including a large group of celebrities and feminist leaders.

Women Cross DMZ has been educating, advocating, and organizing for a formal Peace Treaty to end the Korean War and replace the armistice that has been in place since 1953. More than that, Women Cross DMZ is a leading, international voice for women peacemakers and a feminist lens to international relations.
Executive Director Christine Ahn said, "Women Cross DMZ is incredibly grateful to have had PDF as a fiscal sponsor. PDF expedited our application when we needed to build a quick and robust organization to launch our 2015 DMZ crossing, and since then has been helping us build the independent organization we have become. I will never forget the fundraising workshop that Kathy Sharkey gave us; I still use the triangle prospecting chart to build my annual fundraising strategy. Thank you from all of us!"
Welcome new fiscally-sponsored projects!
PDF extends the legal framework of fiscal sponsorship to grassroots groups and projects so they can carry out their work without the burden of managing donations and other tax-exempt requirements. We do this as part of our mission to build the capacity of community-based organizations fostering a more peaceful, just, and equitable world.
