St. Michael's Academy
 :

We had a lovely Christmas Pageant this week on both Tuesday and Wednesday evening. The students worked very hard and all of their practicing was quite evident. Bishop Rozanski attended the Wednesday evening performance and was very impressed with the students. During this crazy time of the year, thank you to all the parents who attended and helped to make the evenings special for their children.

We are down to what I like to call the "Christmas homestretch." The week before Christmas always seems to be a challenging one as the students become more and more excited. It truly is a magical time of the year but we still have a week of school to put in the books.  Please help your child stay focused and complete their work.

And finally next Friday, we will have the much anticipated Christmas Sing-a-long in the gymnasium. We invite you to join us for the festivities. At the conclusion, you are welcome to take your child home with you.  Otherwise, dismissal will begin with car lines at 11:30 a.m. and the buses will depart at approximately 11:45 a.m.

Peace and God's blessings,

Ms. Ann E. Dougal
Principal

Mission Moment

"He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord."

 Advent

The Story of the 4 Candles

The Four Candles burned slowly. Their ambiance was so soft you could hear them speak... The first candle said, "I Am Peace, but these days, nobody wants to keep me lit." Then Peace's flame slowly diminished and went out completely.

The second candle said, "I Am Faith, but these days, I am no longer indispensable." Then Faith's flame slowly diminished and went out completely.

Sadly the third candle spoke, "I Am Love and I haven't the strength to stay lit any longer. People put me aside and don't understand my importance. They even forget to love those who are nearest to them." And waiting no longer, Love went out completely.

Suddenly ... A child entered the room and saw the three candles no longer burning. The child began to cry, "Why are you not burning? You are supposed to stay lit until the end." Then the Fourth Candle spoke gently to the little boy, "Don't be afraid, for I Am Hope, and while I still burn, we can re-light the other candles."

With shining eyes, the child took the Candle of Hope and lit the other three candles. Never let the Flame of Hope go out. With Hope in your life, no matter how bad things may be, Peace, Faith and Love may shine brightly once again.

From the Classroom of Mrs. McQuade - Gr. 5

Are You A Master Of Multiplication?

Mrs. McQuade's 5th grade students know the importance of knowing their multiplication facts. They know that if they are fluent with their facts, everything else in math is easier!

Students have the opportunity, each week, to recite their facts to me. They earn Skittles for successfully knowing each set of facts. After they have mastered all of the sets through the 11s and 12s tables, they take a timed test to become a Multiplication Fact Master!

Congratulations to Thomas, Mia, Selena, Andrew, and Rishit our current Multiplication Fact Masters!

Great Job!

 School Mass

"Let There Be Light"

"Let there be light" were God's very first words in the beginning of creation and light was the focus of  Fr. Robert White's message  today as he celebrated Mass with the full school. We are reminded that Jesus is the light of the world and as we prepare for Christmas, we use lights to signify that His light will always be with us. God has taught us to never fear the dark because His light  will always guide us.

We thank our 3rd grade students for being our readers, altar servers and choir members. Well done!

 The Christmas Pageant

"For Unto Us A Child Is Born"

They've been practicing their music for months and the big night(s) finally came! On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, our students brought the nativity story to life as they reenacted the birth of Jesus during the St. Michael's Academy annual Christmas Pageant.  And what a job they did on both nights! Each group of students performed with a reverence befitting a King as the narrated story was perfectly told.

Thank you all for coming and showing your support for the students and their hard work. These are the types of memories that will stay with them forever.
