CPR Learns Why Businesses Are Moving

to Grand Junction

After a stream of recent relocation announcements, Colorado Public Radio's Ryan Warner wanted to find out why more and more businesses are opting for Grand Junction and Colorado's Grand Valley over bigger, more metropolitan communities. Mesa County Sets Example for Opportunity Zones Federal Tax Incentive

The newly enacted federal Opportunity Zone (OZ) program provides a federal tax incentive for private investors who support low-income urban and rural communities through private equity investments in businesses and real estate ventures. Numerous Colorado communities gathered in Denver recently to discuss how the incentive is best implemented in the state - with Mesa County as the exemplar.

14 census tracts have been identified as Opportunity Zones in Mesa County - the most in the state - and Rosecap Investments in Grand Junction has established one of the first OZ investment funds. GJEP is now leading efforts on a prospectus for how to attract more outside investments. Get more information on Opportunity Zones here .
