  1. Reminder of next week’s schedule change - Monday 1/25 is a White Schedule Day and Tuesday 1/26 is an asynchronous Giant Schedule Day and PSAT Testing for juniors who previously registered for the exam. Visit the HPHS testing website and the letter sent on January 15 for more details.
  2. The TLC is open daily Tuesdays through Fridays and is a great way to support learning during the 2nd semester.
  3. Counselors are available to support students in many ways, including addressing social-emotional concerns.
Message from the Principal
Yesterday we witnessed an historic presidential inauguration. This peaceful transition of power was a civic lesson of epic proportions and the opportunities to learn, teach and grow are profound. I continue to remind myself of the importance of patience, empathy and perseverance. I am extremely proud of and greatly appreciative of HPHS students and staff for gathering as a community to ask thoughtful questions, allowing for multiple perspectives and learning together.
I am also looking forward to the opportunity to give back through this month’s Charity Drive. This week our students witnessed the opening of Charity Drive during PE Classes with this video. I encourage you to watch it and participate as we bring our community together to raise money and awareness for Saving Tiny Hearts Society. Click here for the Charity Drive website. You can contribute by participating in many ways - try a food night, workout event or shop in our charity drive store! Join in the fun and spirit now through February 12.
Look for more information next week about our upcoming February 1 Community Day. Student options for in-person and virtual activities and a sign up will be shared soon.

PSAT Testing Next Week
As you may recall, information about next week’s PSAT was shared with the Class of 2022 via email and Remind text in late November and again shared in the December 7, 2020 Principal Weekly Message. Thank you to the 200+ Juniors who signed up and will join us for the exam on 1/26. Please visit our Testing Page on the HPHS website for more information about what to expect on test day.

Student Life
ACTIVITIES
The City of Highland Park held a livestream event this past Monday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and 4 of our HPHS band small ensembles contributed to the music! The music was rehearsed, recorded, sound-engineered, and the videos put together completely by the students...our kids rock!

HPHS is recognizing our Class of 2021 on the 21st of each month for the second semester. This January, we are celebrating them with a free tshirt offer! All seniors were emailed a code today to place their order for a free shirt delivered to their home. You too can celebrate the Class of 2021 by placing an order as well. CLICK HERE to see what is available. We are GIANT Strong together.

ATHLETICS
We continue to get updates from the IHSA and IDPH on how we are impacted by the move to Tier 2 Mitigations. Check the athletic webpage and look for communication from coaches very soon with updated information. We know the following low-risk sports are starting in the next few days. See below for information.
