June doing the Toast at our Platinum Gala Dinner
In Memory of June Jacobs CBE

Chairman of Jewish Child's Day from 1970-1989 and the Life President from 1989 until her passing earlier this week.

The Trustees, National Council and team at Jewish Child's Day are so saddened by the passing of our former Chairman and in latter years, our Life President.  A lady who campaigned tirelessly for issues she felt so strongly about.  June's insightful contribution and sharp wit will be sorely missed.  Her strength of personality, wise counsel and devotion to Jewish Child's Day for over 50 years will stay in our memory with respect and admiration forever.  Together with the thousands of children whose lives June has impacted, we will always be indebted to her.  Our love and thoughts are with Nick, Robin, Keren and their families.

Bar/Bat Mitzvah Twinning Programme

We are very proud of our Bar/Bat Mitzvah twinning programme and the different it makes to so many.

Our 'twins' in the UK provide funds for their twin which provide the overseas 'twins' with things that they need whether it be a bed, computer, therapy, clothes or something else which will make a difference to their life.
Friendship is another amazing thing that comes out of many twinnings - The summer months are always popular for meetings as so many of our families visit Israel.

We were delighted to hear that one of our families met the Israeli family again this week having originally met last year - it is amazing how many hearts are touched - this is the email we received this morning which brought a tear to everyone

"The meeting yesterday was lovely. It's hard to believe that 4 hours went by when it felt like only 5 minutes. Ariel was very excited from the morning and couldn't wait to leave for the outing. Liz is absolutely amazing. Gabriel took Ariel and bought him a very nice shirt. The boys wandered round the store together. This is something nobody has ever done for Ariel.  Ariel has never received a gift from his uncles, relatives, grandparents or anyone and I could count on one hand the number of times anyone has ever invited him out. As a mother, I'm not only happy with what they bought him, but for the wonderful experience Ariel and his brothers had."

Auschwitz Trip
11th November 2018

Jewish Child's Day is organising a tour to Auschwitz-Birkenhau and would welcome interested parties to join us on this special and emotional journey.

Upon arrival in Krakow, we will visit the Jewish Quarters followed by a meal at a local restaurant, after which we will drive past the Wall of the Ghetto and the Schindler Museum.

After a good night's sleep, we will depart by coach to Auschwitz where we will meet up with a local specialist guide who will describe and explain the history of the Holocaust, right up to the liberation of Auschwitz. The first part of the morning will be spent at Auschwitz 1 and the second half of the day at Birkenhau (also known as Auschwitz II), followed by a visit to the town of Oswiecim to tour the last remaining synagogue of that town (time permitting).

Cost of trip per person - £495 inclusive of hotel, scheduled flights from Heathrow and snacks.  (Insurance and meals are not included in the cost)

For further information, please contact Natasha Brookner on 020 8446 8804 or email [email protected]
