WWJU - What Would Jesus Undo: Greed

The definition of 'greed' is pretty straightforward: " intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, power, or food." Bing - online dictionary
When does it happen, that our hearts get overcome by this kind of powerful, intense passion to possess? What triggers these feelings of greed, that can be so destructive? And why was this one of the dangers about which Jesus came to warn us? One of the things Jesus would 'undo'.
Awhile ago I came across this rather challenging limerick about greed that has stuck with me since I first heard it:

Said the man to the widow, 'No money to you will I loan,
Some other, you must phone.'
Then one day he expired,
And to hell he retired,
An eternity, of fire & brimstone.

Ouch! This weekend we move to Week III in our WWJU series, with this installment, "WWJU: Greed."

Comet Care Packs - July Mission
We are seeking your financial help to provide hungry kids in the Cameron School District with supplemental food.  Just  $85  can provide a child with extra food to take home in their backpacks on weekends during the school year.   Checks can be made out to Living Water Church and add Comet Care Packs in the memo line. Contact Debbie Odden for more information on this community-wide effort. ( [email protected] )
July Message Series: WWJU
There's a good chance many have heard the acronym, WWJD. It's often found on bracelets or t-shirts; an abbreviated reminder to consider in difficult situations, asking the question, "What would Jesus do?" This month we begin a new message series that takes this popular saying and moves it in a slightly different direction, instead asking, "What Would Jesus Undo?" What are the things that break Jesus' heart, bother him, create a real sense of dissatisfaction? See you in worship!
New Living Water FB Page
This month your church is creating a brand new FB page targeted specifically for our ministry partners. This is the page you'll find the latest information on programs, signups, mission projects, and more. We encourage you to visit the page by clicking here and request to join, soon! Thanks!!

It is preoccupation with possessions, more than anything else,
that prevents us from living freely and nobly.     -Thoreau
