What a wonderful time of year! Flowers are blooming and
gardens are bounteous with vegetables, a great time to
consider saving some of your garden seeds for the Kent Seed
Library. Here is a link to guide you through the seed saving
process. Sharing seed from local gardens preserves our specific
natural vegetation. We have small envelopes in the library to put
seeds in or drop them off with as much plant information as
possible and we will take it from there. Have left over seed packets?
We will take those as well. Organic and non-GMO seed please.

Summer Sunday Library Hours until August 19. In last year's Library survey we asked what additional services our patrons would like, and many of them requested Sunday hours. This is a pilot program that we will use to determine feasability of the extra hours of operation. We are always striving to increase service to our community in a meaningful way. The Library will be fully open for business offering computer use, checking in and out of materials, or even just a cozy place to sit and relax in between shopping or browsing at the booksale. The Sunday hours will be from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., and the dates are July 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, and August 5, 12, and 19. Please visit!

Summer Reading Program for Adults. The staff at the Kent Memorial Library is happy to offer a KML Book Bag filled with Summer Barbeque items including 2 $25.00 gift certificates. Beginning on Wednesday, June 26, all adults are invited to read a good book. Adults will fill out a ticket for each book they read or listen to (including eBooks). The winning ticket will be drawn on Wednesday, August 8. The more books you read or listen to, the better chances you have at winning the prize.

Great American Read (PBS). The front desk will have a copy of the America's 100 best-loved novels (as chosen in a national survey).* PBS and the producers worked with the public opinion polling service "YouGov" to conduct a demographically and statistically representative survey asking Americans to name their most-loved novel. Approximately 7,200 people participated. The Library will be conducting its own survey of our patrons' favorite novels. Please come in to the Library to add your favorite to our list!
