Looking Toward this Sunday June 3, 2018

ONE SERVICE ONLY AT 11:00 IN THE SANCTUARY

Scripture - 1 Samuel 3 and Psalm 139

The Rev. Robert M. Alexander will preach at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary.

The season of Pentecost is a celebration of the coming of the Holy Spirit and an invitation to be a part of what the Spirit of God is doing in the world. We are invited to partner with God in the work of reconciliation, renewal, and restoration. On this Journey Sunday we will reflect on the example of Samuel, who, through the help of his mentor Eli, heard the call of God and was invited into God's transformative work among the people of Israel.
What does this story teach us about our own ability to listen and respond to God's call? What does it tell us about how we might make ourselves available to God on life's journey? As we celebrate our 2018 graduates how might we encourage them to listen to God along life's journey? We will explore these and other questions during our worship this Sunday. See you there.

The Chancel Choir will sing Here, O My Lord, I See Thee Face to Face.

We will commission our mission teams, camp and conference participants, and others who are traveling on behalf of the church this summer. We will also recognize our 2018 high school graduates.
Join us for a picnic at the Congregation House following worship. The church will provide chicken and drinks. PLEASE
BRING large side dishes and/or a dessert to share.

Mission Opportunities
NICARAGUA UPDATE
Our Nicaragua Mission Team has continued to keep the situation in Nicaragua in view and in prayer.  Following a conversation with our partners at CEPAD and with the counsel of our Mission Co-Worker Tracey King-Ortega on Thursday our team has decided to postpone our trip.  The situation in Nicaragua is unstable and unpredictable.  We will share more details about the situation at a future time. Our partners are all safe but many others have been injured or have been killed.  CEPAD and Jubilee House and others continue to do the hard work of development and peacemaking.  Please pray for them and please continue to hold the people of Nicaragua in your prayers.  May they find a peaceful solution to the conflicts.
