Giving Hands Update
by Kerrie Close:

After a month of hard work, The Giving Hands (housed at 16 West for the pandemic) have hand crafted another batch of 251 greeting cards! Let me just say, that's a lot of glue sticks! Thankfully, Christmas came a bit early when Mr Schwartz dropped off a box full of Elmer's glue sticks and some new cricut mats!

I would just like to give a huge shout of to this group of Volunteers for continuing to give back to the community each month. The residents at Gaymont, Twilight Gardens, The Laurels, and Norwalk Memorial look forward to your cards month after month. And another huge shout out to Donna's Vibrant Volunteers, Mark and Deanna, for continuing to deliver these cards for us each month.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. Enjoy time well spent with your loved ones, enjoy those baked goodies, and most importantly, Wash those hands!! Happy Holidays! See you in 2021!
Lest you think it's all volunteer work at 16 West, the group finds time to get it's goove on too . . .

“I could use a little social interaction.”

And now, for a little housekeeping . . .

I know that nobody wants to talk bedbugs, but winter seems to be a bad time for spread of those things too. A few years ago CLI started enforcing luggage (both size and number of bags) on vehicles and in our spaces. This is for 2 reasons. Fewer items means fewer things to house stowaways. Also, we are really focused on cleaning & sanitizing our spaces. This means that we need much less clutter. The carry-on limits on CLI Van Lines & in CLI programs is 1 lunchbox & 1 small bag (12"x12"x12"). If you are a participating in an activity that requires additional gear (like golf or bowling), we'll make exceptions. Otherwise, we need to hold everyone to this. Thanks for your help!

John's Usual Excuses & Apologies--

Not to date myself too much, but I first started with HCBDD (aka "christie lane") in 1998. Don't laugh, it will happen to you too. Anyway, this is the first year since I've been associated with our programs that we haven't hosted a December Christmas party. It definitely feels like some essential wrap up for the year is missing. We may really have to step up our Christmas in July game!

Thank you all for being part of CLI this year-- and the many, many ways that so many of you have contributed to our community. It is inspiring.

Enjoy your holiday break. Sleep in & do all the other stuff that the usual Monday - Friday routines interrupt. Be safe & help keep others safe. Vaccines are coming, but we have a few months to go. I look forward to seeing you in 2021!
John
Don't be a Scrooge
(or a Grinch)!

Send in your 2021 New Year's pics!

What are you looking forward to next year?
“It’s Christmas Eve. It’s the one night of the year when we all act a little nicer, we smile a little easier, we cheer a little more. For a couple of hours out of the whole year, we are the people that we always hoped we would be.”
— Frank Cross (Scrooged)
Just a reminder that CLI will be closed for a longer break this holiday season so that we can make sure that we've allowed enough time for each of us to isolate so that it's safe to gather in our small groups in 2021.
"This house is so full of people it makes me sick. When I grow up and get married, I’m living alone.”
– Kevin McCallister (Home Alone)
The Good Works Cafe Crew is up to more than just food.
Sarah & Shea also volunteered time knotting blankets to donate.
“Seeing is believing, but sometimes the most real things in the world are the things we can’t see.”

— Chris Van Allsburg (The Polar Express)

Ever wonder what goes on at Seminary when we aren't paying attention? Yeah, us too. These guys are clearly up to something although Woody is trying to play it cool. Tammy says that he has ambitions of male modeling . . .
“That’s what Christmas memories are made from, they’re not planned, they’re not scheduled, nobody puts them in their Blackberry, they just happen.”
— Kelly Finch (Deck the Halls)

“Put that cookie down!”

Think you know where this week's picture was taken? Call, text, or email me with your answer!
From GM James Johnson--
We had another busy week.
The amount of paper destroyed was down a bit. We still shredded @16,000 pounds.
Production was up slightly to @70,00 units.
We also added 2 new shred customers last week as well.

It is hard to believe it is almost Christmas. I wanted to remind everyone that FL will be closed from 12/24 to 1/3/2021.

We will be resuming our normal schedule on Monday 1/4. This will include our first Wed. of the month drop off on 1/6/21 from 9-2.

I hope everyone enjoys the days ahead of Christmas and always remember that you have to do your part in order to help everyone else do their part to prevent the spread of the virus.
“You see? I stuck it out. And when I grew older, I found that this nose was the most wonderful thing in the whole world because it was a different nose from everybody else’s.”
