English Conversation Program Registration is Open
|
The Office of International Affairs' English Conversation Program (ECP) is a fun way to connect with Ohio State students from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
Each semester, groups of five meet th
roughout the semester to participate in discussions and fun events and activities on campus and around Columbus.
Students who register for ECP, also have the opportunity to
apply to be part of the Language Improvement Track (LIT). LIT is for students who are more interested in developing their English speaking and listening skills, and students who are more interested in teaching language and interpersonal skills.
Registration is now open to new members and will be accepted on a rolling basis. Contact Dan Montour with any questions.

During orientation month, there will be two Resource Fairs for international and domestic students. One on Wednesday, August 8 and Thursday, August 16, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
The meeting location for both resources is the Buckeye Reading Room (260), Thompson Library.
At the fair, you will visit with vendors and department representatives to learn more about the important services available to international students at Ohio State.
Students will also have the chance to win fun prizes.

| Academic Success Credit-Bearing Course for International Students |
The course is designed to help international students adapt to U.S. academic culture and practice skills (e.g., communicating with instructors, class participation, source citation, time management, active learning) needed for success in Ohio State classrooms. Students will also become familiar with a wide variety of campus resources.
The two-credit hour course will be offered during the second seven-week session of autumn 2018, and again for the first seven-week session of spring 2019. The instructor has many years of experience working with international students and with teaching study skills.

Everyone in the village or community is responsible to make sure that a child learns proper values and understand right from wrong.
The Office of International Affairs developed
VILLAGE, which stands for Valuable Insight, Life Lessons and General Exchanges, to apply those same principles for students who seek guidance.
You have your friends for relationship advice. If you're feeling sad or emotionally distraught, you have campus professionals at Student Life's Counseling and Consultation Service available to help. But what about everything else?

| Global Engagement Night - Meet and Greet |
Global Engagement Night invites international and domestic students to participate in cross-cultural discussions about different regions of the world and share their thoughts on topics affecting all college students.
Global Engagement Night takes place on T
uesdays at 6 p.m. in 160 Enarson Classroom Building during spring and autumn.
The first Global Engagement Night of autumn semester will be on August 28, and it will be a meet and greet.
Snacks will be provided!

| Join the Office of International Affairs in Welcoming New International Students |
Ohio State is expecting close to 2,000 new international students for autumn semester.
To help them prepare and acclimate to life in Columbus and to a university in the United States, the global engagement team, with the help of student orientation leaders, coordinates a series of events and activities that take place from July 30 - August 21.
Help us welcome the new international students and join us for fun events including group lunches at local spots, shopping, going to sporting events and visiting surrounding neighborhoods.

Global Engagement Film Series
|
The Office of International Affairs collaborates with the Gateway Film Center to host a monthly international film series. Students have the chance to view films from around the world for free!
The next film will be shown on Wednesday, August 22 at 7 p.m. at the Gateway Film Center
.
Students do not need to register for the event, but plan on coming early because the first 30 students will receive free popcorn and soda!
Admission is FREE for students with a BuckID and offered at regular price to the public.
