Robert K. Kraft, Chairman of The Kraft Family Foundation, is generously donating mobile medical units to support the efforts of agencies in Massachusetts interested in mobilizing addiction services to
increase access to care for people with addiction. Vehicles
will be
made available to Massachusetts agencies who successfully apply for and receive funding from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS) Mobile Addiction Services Request for Responses (RFR).
In 2018, The Kraft Center for Community Health at Massachusetts General Hospital, along with Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, the Boston Public Health Commission's AHOPE Program, and the GE Foundation, launched a mobile medical program to provide on-demand clinical and harm reduction services to vulnerable populations with addiction. The Center currently operates one mobile unit in Boston (the CareZONE van) under this model. On November 29, 2019, the MDPH BSAS released a Mobile Addiction Services RFR to provide similar on-demand mobile health services for individuals with addictions and co-occurring illnesses in underserved areas.
