ATLANTA SIGS
We continue to have some great Special Interest Groups (SIGs) activities as part of the Atlanta TTN experience. If you are interested in a SIG, please let us know so you can be added to the SIGs distribution list to get communications on upcoming meetings. It's so exciting to see all this new activity with Atlanta TTN. Share with a friend and let them experience the power of TTN!
Mah Jongg SIG
The month of May was a good game month. Fewer games because of unavailability of some members and a holiday. It is always good to get together, play as many games as possible and enjoy lunch. The group decided that Monday will be the play day from 2 to 3 times a month.
The dates in June are:
June 6th
June 25th
and in July,
the 9th
Contact Elaine for locations.
We welcome new and seasoned players!
If you are interested in learning, we can teach you. If interested in participating or have questions, please contact Elaine Cloward at [email protected], 770-883-3161. We have lots of fun in this group. Please remember to RSVP!
This SIG met on May 15th. It was a first time "Dining Out" for some of our new members. This month we enjoyed Ethiopian food at Desta Ethiopian Kitchen. Plan on "traveling" with us to Bangladesh for next month's Dining Out.
The next TTN Meet and Eat is scheduled for June 19, 6:30 PM.
Bangladesh, to the east of India on the Bay of Bengal, is a South Asian country marked by lush greenery and many waterways. Its Padma (Ganges), Meghna and Jamuna rivers create fertile plains, and travel by boat is common. On the southern coast, the Sundarbans, an enormous mangrove forest shared with Eastern India, is home to the royal Bengal tiger. We will eat at
Panahar at 3375 Buford Highway. Here is a link to their menu:
Please make sure to RSVP to Eve Bogan at
[email protected] by
June 17.
This will be a good time to try some new food and spend time with fellow TTN members.
Ideas for a great place to eat on our tour around the world of food? Let Eve know and help coordinate!
Movie SIG
The next movie will be on August 13, 2018. This group is busy with summer plans in June and July. For upcoming movies
Judy Golden
will send out information on the movie and time to those who RSVP or are in the Movie Group (Google Group). Please reach out to Sharon or Judy if you'd like more information or to RSVP.
Are you interested in day trips around town? Would you enjoy outings with like minded women to
sight see
, or learn new facts about Atlanta and the surrounding area? If so, this SIG is for you.
We are in need of someone heading up this SIG. The requirements are to find fun places around the city to attend, coordinate dates and times with members. That is all.
With so many historical, artistic and entertaining venues in the Atlanta area that should not be a hard job.
We will be posting information on our FACEBOOK page. Please go to:
and "LIKE" our FACEBOOK PAGE.
We have a goal of reaching 100 "Likes" by June 1, please help us by simply clicking Like on our page. We gained 9 new likes in May. Only 20 to go for our goal. "Liking" our page is one way to find out what is going on in our chapter and to make sure your friends know what you are doing as a member of TTN, ask them to LIKE our page as well. Choose "Invite Friends", and invite as many as you like. This year will be a busy one for Atlanta TTN so don't miss out on all of these new activities and interesting news posted to our Facebook page. If you have information you'd like to share please reach out to
Gail Collier-Glover at
[email protected].
That is a way of increasing viewership and possibly recruiting new members. Any post, article or event of interest please let Gail know!

Living with Purpose - Part Four
Excerpted from an article on Smart Aging, which was in the Aging in Atlanta section of the
Atlanta Journal Constitution. The emphasis is on how to cope with the changes aging can bring. It should be a positive experience.
This is the fourth and final month of giving pointers on "Living with Purpose".
Barry Dym, 75, retired a year ago from a long career as an organizational consultant and a marriage and family therapist. His standpoint was more on what gives meaning to his life opposed to having purpose.
"What gives meaning to me is helping people. Trying to have an impact. Working with people very closely and helping them become much better at what they do."
Since he has retired he is mentoring several people with whom he has a professional and personal relationship, bringing together groups of people to talk about aging and starting a blog. He has emphasized the he feels freer now to explore who he is, where he came from and what meaning things have for him than any other time in his life.
He continues that creates a dilemma, "I feel of two minds about purpose in older age, in some ways, I'd like to just shuck off that sense of having to do something to be a good person, and just relax, And in other ways, I feel deeply fulfilled by the things I do."
TTN is a dynamic national community of professional women, 50 and forward, whose changing life situations lead them to seek new connections, opportunities and resources.
Through TTN, women connect with one another to discover new perspectives and opportunities so they can impact themselves and their community.
