Seeking Those with Leadership Gifts
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord.
1 Corinthians 12:4

Do you know someone with gifts for leadership and ministry? Consider recommending those members of Oxford Presbyterian Church whom you feel have demonstrated gifts for leadership and a commitment to the life and ministry of this congregation.

Recommendations for the offices of Ruling Elder, Deacon, and Trustee may be made online ( Nomination of Church Officers ). Printed brochures will be in our Sunday bulletin and available throughout the church.

The election of church officers is at the heart of what it means to be Presbyterian. The Nominating Committee greatly appreciates your insight in helping them gather names this week as they prayerfully engage this exciting time of discernment.

Introducing Our New Youth Director
Meet Jacob Smithers. He’d like us to call him Jake. He comes to us from Kirkmont Center where he served as Summer Program Coordinator. That role at Kirkmont has filled Jake with joy as he observed the growth of the youth with the Lord. He loves to witness the moments when youth discover they are beloved as children made in the image of God.

Jake is enthusiastic, organized, and hardworking. He strives to make a difference in the lives of all ages. While in Oxford, he plans to continue to his education with the goal of a vocation in public administration and nonprofit leadership.

On Tuesday, September 4th, Jake will begin as the new Youth Director for the High School and Middle School Youth Groups. He’ll also be leading our Confirmation Class experience.

Join us for worship on Sunday, September 9th and welcome Jake to our ministry of life long faith formation.

Rise Against Hunger
Rise Against Hunger seeks to address global food insecurity by mobilizing teams to pack thousands of meals in an exciting and meaningful event. This intergenerational mission experience is coming to the Seminary Church on Sunday, October 21st from 2:00-4:00 p.m.

In collaboration with committees throughout OPC, the Mission and Outreach committee has just opened online registration at http://events.stophungernow.org/OxfordPres2018
(There is an excellent video about Rise Against Hunger at the bottom of the registration website.)

To meet our goal of packing 15,000 meals, we are seeking 75 volunteers to pack meals consisting of rice, soy, vegetables, and vitamins. These meals are then shipped around the world to people who are in need.

Invite your family members, neighbors and friends to make a difference by participating in Rise Against Hunger. Join members of community congregations as well as university students in this mission. After a brief cleanup from the event, Miami University’s Office of Community Engagement and Service is hosting a meal with the goal of discussing avenues we may address local food insecurity as well.

Learn more about Rise Against Hunger and sign up for this exciting mission opportunity on Sunday after worship in the lounge.
