Dear New England Tourism Industry,

It’s been a tough few months across the globe, and especially for us in the tourism industry. Whether you’re one of Discover New England’s (DNE) industry partners or you’re a friend overseas, I think we can all agree on one thing—the tourism industry is resilient, and better days are coming. My heart goes out to you as we navigate COVID-19.

As DNE’s new executive director, know that I am with you during this challenging time, and that I look forward to meeting and connecting with all of you. I’ve helped our industry rebound from recessions, terrorist attacks and natural disasters before, and we will recover and reopen from this pandemic.

To allow New England enthusiasts to explore our incredible region from home until it’s safe for them to be here in person, we’ve created a resource of virtual experiences that can be easily accessed on DNE’s website. Continue reading to learn more about these efforts, news, and the new Tourism Stands Ready partnership and initiative.

Please stay healthy and safe, and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns
Best regards,
Chris Jennings, Executive Director

Facing COVID-19, Together but Separate
We have all spent the past several weeks at home – together but separate. And while we know it’s the right thing to do, it doesn’t mean we don’t miss sharing New England with travelers across the globe.

To give them an opportunity to Discover New England virtually , we assembled a list of fun, inspiring and educational ways they can visit our beautiful region from the comfort of their own homes.

New England will be ready to welcome travelers when the time is right. Be sure to follow our social media channels @discovernewengland as we keep our potential visitors inspired with the beauty and diversity of New England.

Sunday Times Travel Magazine

We’re pleased with the New England coverage in the June issue of Sunday Times Travel Magazine. The magazine highlighted 35 trips to plan now – worldwide. New England was one of just a few North America trips included. This publication is often referred to as the “holiday bible” and is seen as a source of holiday inspiration with 77% of readers taking more than 3 holidays per year.
Tourism Stands Ready is a collaborative messaging initiative by Discover New England, Go West, International Inbound Travel Association, LaCita, U.S. Department of Commerce, Travel South, Rocky Mountain International, and International Roundup. The purpose is to deliver a positive joint message of support during this time as a global pandemic has severely impacted the travel industry.
