Dear friends:

Our family’s Christmas celebration was joyful, abundant, and colder-than-I-ever-want-to-be-again. But I am glad to have celebrated by gathering the generations on an outside porch, sipping hot drinks and draping ourselves in wool blankets. It will be a Christmas to remember for many years.

I’m glad to report that Covenant once again rose to the occasion with 800+ people (and one camel) venturing out on a rainy Christmas Eve to come to campus. It was lovely to see you!

More than 2,000 individuals and families joined us for online worship. In addition, you generously gave to our Christmas Eve offering – over $51,000! – all of which will provide educational technology to under-resourced children.

I’m grateful and more than a bit proud to be part of such a generous congregation.

This Sunday, we’ll launch into a sermon series that is a bit of a risk, but I think you’ll find it helpful. The book of I Corinthians is arguably the most contemporary book in all of scripture, and we’ll take a deep dive into it for the next 12 weeks or so. We’ll explore issues such as leadership, identity, conflict, generosity and other timeless challenges. I’m looking forward to it and trust we’ll learn a lot together. You can prepare for this week by clicking here.

This week, we’ll also celebrate a baptism, communion and some great music.

Join us, and invite a friend.
PS – At this time of year, I’m often asked about church finances, and this most unusual year has made answers more complex.

However, the bottom line is that we’re in sight of our giving goal for 2020, and with your generosity today (it needs to be postmarked or given today), we hope we will get there.

The less easy news is that we are also a long way ($500K) from our 2021 pledge goal and need any and all support if we want to keep the scope of our ministries.

Thank you.
