ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY

February 11: Thinking Inside the Box - Choosing the Right AAC App! with Vicki Clarke, CEO, Dynamic Therapy Associates, Inc. (DTA, Inc.). This session takes a look at the myriad of different Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) applications on devices, tablets, and iPads.

February 25: AAC Teletherapy - Tips and Tools for Success with Sarah Gregory, M.S., CCC-SLP, Speech-Language Pathologist and Assistive Technology Consultant, Ithaca City School District (New York). This session will explore tips and technology tools to support all aspects of remote Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) instruction.

The University of Wyoming ECHO in Assistive Technology (UW ECHO in AT) provides training and the sharing of best practices for educators and service providers to consider, implement and evaluate the use of assistive technology to improve outcomes for students.

Network participants include assistive technology professionals, specialists and teams, school administrators, general and special education teachers, para-educators, case managers, school counselors, school psychologists, state agency staff, and special education service providers, including OTs, PTs, SLPs, etc.

Credits offered:
PTSB and STARS. Graduate credit is offered at an additional expense to the participant. A certificate of attendance will be provided at the end of the Fall and Spring sessions. 

Certificate Offered for Viewing Previously Recorded Sessions:
ECHO AT Asynchronous Learning: A new course offered to Wyoming residents provides participants an opportunity to view previously recorded UW ECHO in Assistive Technology didactic sessions from Fall 2020 through Spring 2021. Participants who complete activities per module will be awarded a Certificate of Completion for one contact hour for continuing education units (CEUs).

Open Labs will continue to be provided through Zoom distance technology on
Wednesdays and Thursdays between and 2-4 p.m. until further notice. Ongoing device sanitization procedures will continue.

Feb. 3 & 4: Technology to Aid Senior Citizens – Find out what assistive technology WATR has available in our loan library for senior citizens to use in their daily lives, such as the Simpl TV Remote, or available in our Reuse Program for low cost, the Jenda Voice Calendar. Also keep connected with loved ones using the GrandPad, a simplified computer tablet.

Feb. 10 & 11: Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Apps for Loan – Learn what AAC apps are available for short-term loan on an iPad or iPod through WATR. Also, consider registering for our ECHO in AT session on Thursday, February 11 at 11 a.m. MT, “Thinking Inside the Box: Choosing the Right AAC App!” with Vicki Clarke, CEO of Dynamic Therapy Associates, Inc. (DTA Inc.), a speech-language pathology clinic specializing in AAC.

Feb. 17 & 18: Accessible Educational Materials (AEM) – Find out how the AEM program can help a student with a print disability, visual impairment, physical impairment, or a reading disability, such as dyslexia, disabilities that can impair their ability to read and learn from standard educational materials. Bring your questions!

Feb. 24 & 25: Tools to Support Remote Instruction - Learn about the devices and tools WATR has to help with remote learning and instruction. Also, consider registering for our ECHO in AT session on Thursday, February 25 at 11 a.m. MT, “AAC Teletherapy: Tips and Tools for Success” with Sarah Gregory, M.S. CCC-SLP from Ithaca City School District in Upstate New York.

The WATR Reuse Program is looking for lightly-used assistive technology to make available to others who could benefit from the use of those devices or technologies in their daily lives. Donated devices will be sanitized prior to sale.
