AIA/CKC - Filson Historical Society Firm Survey
The American Institute of Architects Central Kentucky Chapter (AIA   CKC) and The Filson Historical Society invite your response to a survey collecting information about the ongoing archival needs of architectural firms in Louisville and the Ohio Valley region.  The Filson collects, preserves, and makes available to the public a select sample of our region's notable architectural landmarks and houses the largest architectural collection in Kentucky. The goal of this survey is to encourage firms to make decisions about their records that result in the preservation of our region's rich architectural history for future generations. Through the help of your firm, we hope to enhance the way we assist the architectural profession, the community, and academic researchers for generations to come.

PARALLAX PAVILION: GBBN'S Design Issues Series (DIS) 2018 Exhibit
PARALLAX PAVILION: GBBN'S Design Issues Series (DIS) 2018 Exhibit

What:
The Parallax Pavilion
We turned our usual design process on its head to create the Parallax Pavilion, a temporary installation that manipulates and celebrates perception. Walk to it, around it, inside it-we invite you to consider how changing your viewpoint impacts your point-of-view.

Inspired by a 20th century Surrealist parlor game, Cadavre Exquis (Exquisite Corpse), five teams from across our three U.S. offices contributed to different phases of the project-each team blind to what would be passed to them. Challenging the status quo is part of GBBN's culture. Upending our customary design process was revealing, transforming, and yes, sometimes
aggravating! Learn what worked and what flopped in an exhibit that dissects the journey to the Parallax Pavilion.

We're sharing the exhibit with the public

Louisville Maker Village
Sunday, September 16, 2018, 12-5 pm
FirstBuild, 333 E. Brandeis Avenue, Louisville

Why:
Architecture and design shape people's daily experiences. On a small scale, the Parallax
Pavilion does just that. This temporary installation, designed and crafted by a series of internal
teams crisscrossing our U.S. offices, invites people to see things differently.

About DIS:
GBBN's Design Issues Series (DIS) is a yearly, inter-office exhibit that digs into a different
issue-like digital tools, prefabrication, and common space-to deepen the community's
connection to design.

About GBBN:
We work with visionaries to design solutions that enhance experience and empower people.
