The Treaty of Renewed Friendship
On August 10 PHLT entered into The Treaty of Renewed Friendship of 2018 with the Pennsylvania Lenape Nation . Board Member Robert Larsson and former Vice President Lori Colgan signed the treaty at a ceremony on the Delaware River in Shawnee, along with representatives from the Shawnee Preservation Society, Middle Smithfield Church of St John, Aquashicola-Pohocopo Watershed Association, Middle Smithfield Twp, Middle Smithfield Historical Commission, and the Brodhead Watershed Association.

“Without clean water we have nothing,” said Kathleen Flynn, PHLT Vice President and local angler representing those who fish along the exceptional streams of the Poconos who spoke at a press conference on 8/14. “Water is the life blood of all living things. Both the smallest nymph that feeds the wild trout , and the largest mammal on land or sea, require clean water to exist.” Learn more here .

Join local astronomer Rich Grebb for a night under the stars. This astronomy program will include telescopic views of the planet  Saturn its rings! Venus will be visible before setting as well as  Jupiter & its moons! FREE

Sunday, October 21 at 1:00pm ~ Walk-n-Talk at Fernridge Trail and Weiss Woods at TNC's Tannersville Cranberry Bog

Volunteer: Sunday, September 9, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Milkweed is the only thing that Monarch butterfly caterpillars eat. Without it, they cannot survive. Join us as we search for Common Milkweed plants on a Smithfield Township site that is slated for development. If we find milkweed plants, we will transplant them to ForEvergreen Nature Preserve. Please bring work gloves, bottled water, a bag lunch, and a shovel if you have one. We will have some extra shovels. Registration is required.
