CLARINGTON
Hit the trails: Ganaraska Forest

Picture it: hundreds of kilometres of trails in the pristine forest of the Oak Ridges Moraine; 15, 30 and 60-kilometre single and double-track trails that offer a good challenge with multiple hills. This is mountain biking in the Ganaraska Forest. The 60 kilometre loop is designated as an International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) Epic Ride, one of only three of its kind in Canada. CLARINGTON
Follow the path and "Step Inside"

Follow the country path and "Step Inside" on June 9 and 10. The members of A Country Path, a local group of farmers, artisans and businesses are proud to show you how their trade works. Every stop along the "Step Inside" Tour has a unique story to tell, and is hosted by passionate, committed people. Learn something new about something old! See cider presses, old and new; watch how cattle are moved from paddock to paddock during a live rotational pasture moving; tour a 172-year old mill still in operation; listen to beekeepers tell their story; and learn how to grow apples and make wine. SCUGOG
Pro Bass Elite Tour

The Competitive Sport Fishing League's (CSFL) Pro Bass Elite Tour is coming to Port Perry's Lake Scugog on June 27 and will be featuring a live broadcast of the individual angler event. Fishing fans will have the opportunity to watch a livestream of the event on CSFL's Facebook page.
 
Fishing Durham has partnered with National Pro Staff (NPS) Fishing, the world's leading social network for fishing. Anglers can connect with one another, share pictures and videos, and check out fishing locations in their area. Check out and follow the Fishing Durham page on this fantastic resource.
WHITBY
RCMP Musical Ride

Experience the heritage and traditions of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police when the RCMP Musical Ride comes to WindReach Farm on June 19. A full troop of 32 riders performing intricate figures and drills, co-ordinated to music, demonstrate the utmost control, timing and dedication. This show will leave you with memories that last a lifetime. Doors open at 4 p.m., with the show starting at 5:15 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for children and seniors, and $10 for teachers and support persons, and can be purchased through the StarTicketing website.

Happy Birthday Canada!

Celebrate our nation's birthday with family fun, fireworks and food trucks, just to name a few fun activities happening across the region this July 1:
UXBRIDGE
Trinity Uxbridge Tour of Homes

The 48th annual Tour of Homes, presented by the Uxbridge United Church Women, takes place from noon to 5 p.m. on  June 2 . Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 on the day of the tour, and include tea and cookies. They can be purchased  online , by e-transfer to  [email protected] , or in person at the PharmaSave Pharmacy, Shopper's Drug Mart, Presents, Presents and Trinity United Church in Uxbridge; Luke's Country Store in Port Perry; or the IDA Pharmacy in Stouffville.
SCUGOG
Port Perry's got spirit(s)!

Patio season is finally here! Scugog is spearheading a temporary seasonal patio project in downtown Port Perry. Until Thanksgiving, five local businesses will see temporary patios placed in the parking stalls in front of their locations. Check out the patio vibe at the following establishments:

You can also discover Port Perry after dark, on June 22, at the Port Perry BIA's Moonlight and Martinis event. Eat, drink and shop the night away; enjoy live music from York Durham Line and shop great deals from local retailers. Free draws and prizes are taking place all night long.
OSHAWA
Flowers, food and fun in Oshawa 

Enjoy one of Canada's largest contemporary peony collections at the 14th annual Oshawa Peony Festival on June 9 and 10. Enjoy more than 300 varieties of peonies in the gardens and children's arena at the Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens. Artisans, food, live music, gardening seminars and community displays are just a few of the activities to take in. The festival celebrates its sixth consecutive year as one of Ontario's Top 100 Events and Festivals.

Fiesta Week is back in Oshawa this June! The fun kicks off with the annual Father's Day Parade on June 17, featuring a Military section, Miss Fiesta, the Pavilion Queens, Mini Miss Queens, floats, marching units and bands, and floats from the Toronto Caribbean Carnival! Come out and sample ethnic food while enjoying cultural celebrations and entertainment at the pavilions from June 18 to 23. Fiesta Week passports are required for entrance to the pavilions and can be purchased at the door.

The City of Oshawa is also introducing a new weekly event called Market Squared, taking place at City Hall (50 Centre Street South) in Oshawa every Wednesday from June 20 to October 3. The market will feature farmers, merchandise vendors, artisans, food vendors, community groups and more.
AJAX
Pride Durham's Annual Parade and Post-Parade Day of Celebration

Pride Durham's Annual Parade and Post-Parade Day of Celebration takes place June 3 in Ajax's Arbour Park. The parade begins at 1:30 p.m. at MacKenzie Avenue and Bayly Street East, and will proceed eastbound on Bayly Street East. It will travel north on Harwood Avenue South and end at the Ajax Public Library's main branch. Visit pridedurham.org for more information.
CLARINGTON
Spartan Races

Get ready. Get set. Get muddy! Spartan Race Canada's obstacle course races return to Brimacombe June 23 and 24. Test your fitness in an exciting, outdoor environment where having fun and getting dirty is mandatory! Whether you are an elite or junior athlete, or just a first-timer, challenge yourself on the slopes of Brimacombe in the Spartan Race Sprint five-kilometre (km)+, Super 13 km+, or kids Junior 1.5 to three km races.
