Your Community Brief from Oak Ridge High School
Friday, October 4, 2019
|
We opened the month of October this week with a lot of momentum. This is due in no small part to the excellent community involvement we have experienced over recent days: our wonderful Sandlake & Dr. Phillips Blvd. CVS Pharmacy partnership; the Orlando Fire Department providing hands-only CPR training on campus during World Heart Day; the fine family turnout for our AP Awards Ceremony; great participation at our 1st ELL meeting of the school year; and the many guests that turned out for our annual Open House Showcase (these stories below). On this last event, our Open House Showcase, thank
you again to all of the families that attended and showed support for your student's academic endeavors. We had one of the largest turn-outs we have seen and are grateful that parents are involved and sharing a responsibility to help their student learn and meet educational goals. (#ourparentsrock #orhsparentinvolvement #parentinvolvementleadstostudentsuccess)
In the spirit of community involvement, a key monthly meeting is coming up next Tuesday, October 8 - our School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting. Our SAC is comprised of both staff and community members. They gather at these monthly meetings where we discuss progress against the annual School Improvement Plan as well as larger school-wide topics that are very important to our success. If you are part of our Oak Ridge school community, please try to attend next Tuesday's 6:00 p.m. meeting. Your input would be most appreciated.
Thank you for looking over this latest issue and have a great weekend!
With Pioneer Pride,
Ms. Jennifer Bellinger
Principal

Friday's Motivational Moment
The Hot Poker Principle
If you place a poker near the
heat of a fire, it too becomes hot.
To succeed, follow the
hot poker principle.
* Be around great men and women
and learn from their experiences.
* Visit great places.
* Attend great events.
* Read great books.
Remember Pioneers, there is no one secret to success. Success is for everyone. But no advice on success works unless you do!

Enjoy your weekend as we look forward to next week's Homecoming festivities!
