JUNE NEWS
"You are only as young as your spine is flexible" - Joseph Pilates
STUDIO NEWS - Starting this month, Alex Hasselbring, son of owners Pamela and Brent Hasselbring, will begin working at Pilates MN! Alex is a recent graduate of the University of St. Thomas’ Schultz School of Entrepreneurship. His entrepreneurial spirit and passion for health and fitness helped pique his interest in getting involved with the studio. Alex said, “I’ve been an active person all my life. Throughout high school and college, I found a passion for health and fitness, and great personal value in maintaining a healthy, strong, and mobile body. I am so excited to join the staff at Pilates MN, work in a space that supports my values, and work with others, both staff and clients, that share these same values. On top of that, I get to apply what I’ve learned as an entrepreneurship student at the University of St. Thomas! It’s a great opportunity and I’m excited to see what the future holds”.

This summer and beyond, Alex will work regularly at the front desk and help manage the studio. Starting this fall, Alex will be training to become a certified Polestar Pilates trainer. Join us as we welcome Alex!
NEW REFORMER 1 CLASS - Mondays @10:30 starting June 18
PUMPED UP PILATES - The Pumped Up classes will incorporate Pilates with fitness based exercises in sets to create more muscle endurance and strength and break a sweat! Pumped up Pilates 1, starts in July on Mondays at 5:30pm, Pumped up Pilates 2, starts Thursday June 7 at 12:30.
PHYSICAL THERAPY TIP OF THE MONTH: ON THE RUN - There is this diagnosis of patellofemoral syndrome. This is pain around the knee and the knee cap. It sounds like a mouthful but most of the time strengthening around the knee can help. If you are now outdoors and more active with walking or running or bending and lifting you might have some re-occuring knee pain.

A journal article substantiates that strengthening around the hip should be included in therapy for knee pain. At PilatesMN we already do this. The hip muscles require the necessary strength to keep our knees aligned and healthy.

If you have knee pain let us know, we can help you get stronger and it might help to work one on one with a trainer to get what you need individually. Hope you are enjoying the outdoors.
