Ongoing Safety Precautions Relating to COVID-19
While the Stay at Home order is in effect until April 30, 2020, there are certain precautions recommended by health officials that all Long Grove residents are encouraged to practice. These include wearing a face cover or mask to cover your mouth and nose when you go shopping to prevent COVID-19 exposures, as well as continuing to practice safe social distancing and only making necessary trips out in public. Please continue to help stop the spread of this virus by following these precautions, and visit the Lake County Health Department here  for additional information and for other ways to continue to stay safe.

To track the number of positive COVID-19 cases in Long Grove and in Lake County on a daily basis, the Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center's dashboard can be found here. For additional information about COVID-19, visit the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) website here. IDPH also released an additional website page that breaks down the number of positive cases by zip code, which can be found  here

Completing the  U.S. Census  Helps
Long Grove in Many Ways!
Come Together - Respond Today.
Come Together - Respond Today!
The community needs to continue to come together, as residents are coming together to support one another.  One way that community members can help the Village of Long Grove is by completing the U.S. Census. Please view the video to the right to learn more!

The level of participation by our residents for the U.S. Census dictates funding levels for the next decade. Please take the time and take this step to support our community, and make Long Grove count!   Please note: Some residents have contacted the Village reporting they received two, 2020 Census questionnaires - one with the RFD address and one with the street name address - and were not clear on which one to submit. It is recommended to submit the street name address questionnaire. However, if you have already sent in your questionnaire under the RFD address, it will still be counted. Census staff is aware of the potential for duplicates and they will reference the questionnaires in order to avoid double counting. For more information, please visit  census.gov
Village of Long Grove Budget
The Village's fiscal year ends April 30, 2020, which necessitates approval by the Village Board during the April 28 Village Board meeting. The Village Board opened and closed the public hearing on the draft Village Budgets during the April 14 meeting. The public hearing versions were prepared in March and prior to the pandemic. In anticipation of significant revenue reductions due to the economic situation, the Village is considering significant changes to the public hearing version of the budgets to ensure the provision of core services and necessary capital improvements. The Village will be monitoring the actual financial impacts on a monthly basis, and reviewing adjustments as necessary. The revised draft budgets will be posted and available on the Village's website f or inspection and comment prior to the April 28, 2020 Village Board Meeting. The General Fund and Capital Fund Budgets can be found here, and the Other Funds Budgets can be found here Due to the inability to meet in person, please click on the meeting below in the Village's meeting calendar for information on how to comment and participate in this meeting.
Honoring the Memory of
Barbara (Reed) Turner
Barbara (Reed) Turner is one of the many individuals who have played a vital role in the building of the Long Grove community. Barbara passed away Thursday, April 9, 2020 at her home at the age of 100. " The Village of Long Grove mourns the loss of Barbara (Reed) Turner, who represents the true spirit of our community, and who was a pioneer in many ways that have played a part in building Long Grove's legacy," said Village President Bill Jacob.

The Village honored Barbara on her 100th birthday last summer, by proclaiming June of 2019 'Barbara Turner Month'. She was the daughter of Long Grove's first Village president, and made many contributions of her own to the Village. These included donating her family's land as a nature preserve that Long Grove residents enjoy to this day, called the Reed Turner Nature Preserve. She was a public servant, as a Long Grove Village Board member and president of the Long Grove Park District Board. Additionally, Barbara was a founding member of the Long Grove Historical Society and the Long Grove-Kildeer Garden Club, among many other achievements and leadership roles. Click here to read the Village's newsletter article about her featured in the July/August 2019 edition of The Bridge, and here to read a tribute to Barbara and her impressive life, from the Daily Herald.
