Back to School Night - Wednesday, Sept. 11
All parents are asked to attend Back to School Night on Wednesday, Sept. 11 starting promptly at 6:30 PM. All parents should meet in the auditorium. We will provide an update on the Sustainability Campaign and our goals/vision for the school year. After the presentation, parents will attend their daughters' classes to meet teachers and become familiar with course expectations.

Student/Parent Handbook 
Attached please find the  Saint Basil Academy Handbook for the 2019-2020 school year. The Handbook is being provided to all families electronically. Please read and review the entire handbook and then sign-off on the  attached form

All students must return the signed form by Monday, September 16, 2019 to the main office. 

New Faculty and Staff
We welcome Jessica Greene who will be overseeing alumnae work in the Development Office while Emily Domineske, Alumnae Director, will be out on maternity leave. Jessica comes with a development and fundraising background in non-profit. Emily and her husband are looking forward to adopting and welcoming their baby in late September.

We also welcome Alex Rausch as the English Teacher/Academic Support Coordinator. Alex brings 11 years of English teaching experience in public and private schools at both the elementary and high school levels.

Dangers of Vaping Presentation
Officer Elizabeth Cartwright from the Abington Police Department presented to students on Tuesday, Sept. 10 about the dangers of vaping. According to U.S. Surgeon General, vaping among youth has reached epidemic levels. More than 3.6 million middle and high school students currently use e-cigarettes, according to the latest National Youth Tobacco Study. Officer Cartwright will discuss the risks of vaping, the addictive nature of nicotine and the harm it does to the body.

Drop/Add Classes
The last day for students to drop or add classes for either Semester 1 OR Semester 2 is Friday, Sept. 13. Students need to complete a form and get parent's signed permission before any courses are dropped or added.

Travel for Teens Trip
T ravel for Teens will hold an informational meeting on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria about the Greece trip. The Greece trip in 2020 will occur over the Easter break, from April 2-April 11, 2020, not at the end of the year in June. Details about the trip will be shared at the meeting.

Pawprints School Store Hours
The Pawprints School will be open Monday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and also Wednesday 1:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. during Back to School Night.
