TRAFFIC NOTICE: PAVEMENT MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE
Please be advised that beginning on
August 29th, the Streets and Stormwater Division has scheduled our contractor, Asphalt Paving Systems, to perform pavement maintenance on the following roads:
- Brookfield Drive N
- Brookfield Drive W
- Lake Hill Lane
- Hillcrest Drive
- Shore Drive
- East Lake Drive
- Seacrest Drive
- E Park Drive
- Keene Lake Drive
- Keene Park Drive E
The work will be performed in order to extend the life of the roadway pavement and minimize future maintenance costs. This work is planned to be accomplished in two steps.
Step 1: Crack Sealing
This work is scheduled to begin
August 29th. Cracks in the pavement and along the edge of patches will be sealed with a rubberized asphalt material. This work will be done one lane at a time, with minimal disruption to traffic. There may be short periods where individual driveways will not be available; however, these times should be less than 30 minutes in length.
Step 2: Micro Paving
This step is tentatively scheduled to begin in early October. Materials will be placed over the existing blacktop surface providing a new, watertight roadway surface. This process extends the life of the existing roadway by both eliminating water intrusion and providing a new driving surface. There will be a period of approximately 3 hours when the road will be closed to traffic. Affected residents will be notified through the use of door hangers two weeks before the expected time such closure will occur.
CLEARWATER-LARGO ROAD RESURFACING
Kamminga & Roodvoets, Inc.,the City's contractor for the Clearwater-Largo Road project, is scheduled to mill and pave the following streets from September 3th to September 7th:

1st, 2nd, and 3rd Ave NW from Pinellas trail to Clearwater-Largo Rd

Howard Dr NW, except the intersection @ West Bay Dr

4th, 10th, and 9th Ave NW
Currently, these streets are partially closed due to construction. There will be minimal impact to neighborhood traffic except where there is micro-surfacing. Door hangers have been distributed and residents will be required to wait 24 hours prior to driving on these streets. For further information, contact Khang Nguyen, P.E., at 587.6713 x4409.

2ND AVENUE SW AREA SIDEWALK AND ROADWAY IMPROVEMENT
The City of Largo will begin construction of the proposed sidewalk and roadway improvements to the 2nd Avenue SW neighborhood area in September 2018. Construction is scheduled Monday through Friday, 7am until 5pm, and is expected to last approximately six months. Although no school bus stops are affected, there will be one lane road closures during the day as the contractor works through the area.
The City received valuable feedback during a neighborhood meeting held in June 2017, and is moving forward with improvements including roadway resurfacing, sidewalk installation, ADA enhancements, and minor drainage improvements to the project area. The City's contractor will use a variety of paving methods to restore the roadway surfaces. Before construction begins, the City requests all property owners remove private property from the right-of-way such as gardens, landscaping, signs, fences, decorations, etc. The right-of-way refers to the area that extends approximately 10 to 20 feet from the edge of the roadway to your property along both sides of road. If not removed, the contractor may remove and relocate items out of the work area. Neither the City nor the contractor shall be responsible for loss of or damage to private property that is not removed. Mailboxes do not require removal. Any necessary relocation of mailboxes will be done by the contractor. Please be advised fences along the public right-of-way may be removed by the contractor and later re-installed after the contractor completes construction at that location. In addition, please let us know if you have a lawn irrigation system, so we can plan for its restoration should it require limited removal.
The City intends to maintain traffic flow on roadways adjacent to construction. There may be temporary lane closures, disruptions and restrictions to individual driveways and sidewalks used by pedestrians in addition to possible night construction. Please allow extra travel time during construction and proceed with caution at all times. The contractor will provide 48 hours notice via door hangers prior to impacting any driveway access. REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP
Community Development Director Stricklin and Senior Engineer Westmark attended the Regional Transportation Leadership Workshop on August 27th. Sponsored by the Tampa Bay Regional Transit Authority (TBARTA), the MPO Regional Coordination and Best Practices Research study will look at the ways regional transportation coordination are conducted across the Tampa Bay region (defined as Hernando, Citrus, Pasco, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Sarasota, Manatee, and Polk Counties). Representatives from the region participated in the day long workshop to provide input at how transportation coordination could be structured to benefit the region.

INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL OF SHOPPING CENTERS FLORIDA CONFERENCE
Economic Development Staff attended the International Council of Shopping Centers Florida Conference August 26th-28th. The annual event brings together owners, developers, retailers, brokers, lenders, municipalities, property asset managers and product and service providers for networking and learning the latest about the retail real estate industry. Nearly 5,000 individuals registered for the conference. There were 300 booths, with 100 hundred retailers represented. The City of Largo was the only Tampa Bay area municipality to be represented on the show floor. Staff attended the various educational sessions, special industry group meetings, and learned about the latest retail real estate trends and demographics. This year, Largo's booth featured graphic banners showcasing Largo's various new commercial, industrial, residential and retail developments, and Downtown Largo. Economic, demographic, and development updates were provided to the conference participants and staff engaged numerous attendees.
