September & October 2018 Newsletter from the Figaro Owners Club - Issue No: 100
Good Afternoon ,

Welcome to our (trumpets please) 100th Club Newsletter! I can't believe it was 8 years ago when I started writing these. Well they say time goes faster as you get older ah?

Next Tuesday sees the much awaited launch of our Wales Figaro Rally & Club's 10th Birthday Party 2019. In addition to our club's 10th Birthday, the event will mark our 10th rally too. Having visited the hotel, driven the routes and researched the venues for ourselves, Sue and I are super excited about this one. Over the years many of our members have become close personal friends of ours and the opportunity to share our 10th Birthday with them will make it very special.

Although I must confess the majority of our membership reside in England, we have always tried to make it inclusive to anyone who owns a Figaro, regardless of where they live in the world. So it warms my heart to feature so many stories from around the globe, like John Manes from the USA, Johann Sempner & Wolfgang Stenner from Germany, Josine Janseen & Pescal Snel from Holland and lastly Joanna Firek-Uprichard & Camilla Dwyer from Ireland.

We all love showing off our cars and as a club wanted to give a shout-out to Ken Graham & Katherine Clark, Liz Harrison and our band of merry members who represented us at events up and down the UK at places such as Carfest North, Kilbroney Village Show and The Wheels Festival in Great Yarmouth.

Thanks also to the following members for their contributions; Ian Martin, Robert Grainger, Silvia Burgess, Ken & Joyce Richardson, Tom Brake, Bronwen Armor, Helly & Nick Robinson and Michele Lang.

Lastly, on Monday Sue and I will be driving our little figgy 'belle' to London to meet David Beasley who is the head of Nissan Design. David got in touch a few weeks ago with a request to digitally scan the Figaro. Despite requests from me as to why, they seemed reluctant to tell me. In fact it's all a bit top secret? As Nissan are one of the leading electric car manufactures, maybe they are thinking of creating a brand new 'Electric' Figaro?

8 Years of Club Newsletters

This month we celebrate our 100th Newsletter! A year after the creation of the club (March 2009) we felt we needed to communicate with our growing membership so on the 1st March 2010 we launched Newsletter Issue 1.

Since then the publication has enjoyed a number of facelifts, the biggest change came a few years ago when the smart phone and tablet came along. View archive
What rare Figaro extras do you have?

Swedish Member Frederic Sebton posted an interesting article on our forum requesting members to select up to 38 rare items they have fitted to their Figaro?

At the time of writing, the No1 item was the Cup Holder. Why not login and join in the survey and add your Figaro extras. Read more
Figaro gets some 'Citroen' styling

This picture was doing the rounds on Instagram a few months ago and at the time created quite a stir. However, on closer inspection (zooming in on the picture) we could see some 'pixel' manipulation around the rear wing area!

Bit of a shame really as it's a nice twist on the design but only until you get a rear wheel puncture I guess haha

Large Nissan Figaro Scale Model

Japanese model maker 'Hobby Japan' is planning on manufacturing a 1/18 scale Figaro in all 4 colours. Due out in November (in time for Xmas) the detail is extraordinary (especially within the cabin where you can actually see the heater controls). Looks like to roof is removable too.

Priced at around £150 it's not cheap but then again measuring around 11 inches long it's a good size and you are probably paying for all that detail. I am hoping Sue has added it to my Christmas List!

New Online Worldwide Parts Supplier

If you are looking for replacement parts for your car, you can now contact Mike at Endon Services. Mike is more than happy to help you locate the part (even if you don't know the Part Number). We have added his details to our Parts/Spares/Services section of the Website.
Me & Sue enjoying our 'Belle'
Lastly, a great big Figgy welcome!

To all our new members. Please remember Sue and I are super friendly so get in touch if you have a Figgy story or picture to share.

Catch you in a couple of months :)

About the club

How the club started
My son Daniel had always wanted a Figaro, having seen the car at our local garage when he was just 16. After saving for a number of years (plus a small contribution from his mum and dad) he brought an Emerald Green model in June 2008.

Following the purchase we scoured the internet for a members club in the hope that we could attend events with other owners, but were amazed that none existed...and so the Figaro Owners Club was born!  We decided to build a website and forum which took 6 months, and on the 1st March 2009 we pressed the 'publish button' and waited to see if anyone wanted to join. Within a week we had 10 members, a month 35 and a year 478 members.

Today the club has around 1,300 members worldwide in countries including New Zealand, Japan, Australia, USA, Canada, Germany, Spain, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden and many more.
We are grateful to you and all our other members for help and encouragement throughout our journey as the club has grown into a passion which has taken over our lives.
Warmest Regards
