The Office of International Affairs sponsors an annual international photography competition open to all Ohio State students, faculty, staff, visiting scholars and alumni. All submitted entries must have been taken outside the United States. The deadline is October 7 at 12 p.m.

During your time in college, you may face new situations in which you are not quite sure what to do. Global Engagement's VILLAGE is available as a resource to students. Email [email protected] for help on topics including automotive care, budgeting and finance, residence life, hygiene and cleaning tips and more.

Communicating with Faculty and Instructors

The next international student academic workshop will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2:30-3:30 p.m. in 100 Enarson Classroom Building. This session is intended to provide international students with tips on how to effectively communicate with their professors and instructors. Contact Caroline Omolesky with any questions.

Join the English Conversation Program

International and American students have the opportunity to expand their worldviews, improve their intercultural communication skills and make friends from different cultural backgrounds. Students will be put in groups of five or six based on their availability and diversity of background to meet throughout the semester for the purpose of having great conversations and experiences.

International Film Series

The Office of International Affairs collaborates with the Gateway Film Center to host a monthly international film series. Students have the chance to view films from around the world for free! The next film has changed and will be Canadian documentary, Anthropocene: The Human Epoch, which argues that the Holocene Epoch gave way to the Anthropocene Epoch due to profound and lasting human changes to the Earth. The film will be shown on Wednesday, September 25 at 7 p.m. at the Gateway Film Center. Admission is FREE for students with a BuckID and offered at regular price to the public.

Global Engagement Night invites international and domestic students to interact and have cross-cultural discussions. Global Engagement Night takes place on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. in 160 Enarson Classroom Building during spring and autumn. The next Global Engagement Night will be on September 10, and we will explore Columbus. Snacks will be provided! Contact Shaniqua Ingol if you have any questions.

Enter the Lottery for a Fall Break Trip

International and domestic students can enter a lottery to join the Office of International Affairs and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion on a trip to Atlanta, GA, Louisville, KY, and Birmingham, AL, from October 9-13 during fall break (interested students should be able to leave that Wednesday). There are only 40 spots available! The deadline to register is September 9 at 12 p.m.

A Night at the Columbus Museum of Art

Student Life's Residence Life invites students, faculty, staff and their families to attend their annual signature event, A Night at the Columbus Museum of Art, on Friday, September 13, from 6-9 p.m. at the Columbus Museum of Art. Attendees will be able to explore each of the galleries showcasing pieces from a variety of artistic styles. A continuous shuttle from campus will provide free transportation for the duration of the event with stops at the Drake Union, Ohio Union and Buckeye Village. This event is sponsored by Coca-Cola.

Refuge is Searching for Mentors

Refuge, an Ohio State student organization, is an online mentorship program designed to help refugee and immigrant high school students in their path towards higher education. The organization is currently seeking students to volunteer as mentors. Mentors assist high school students in is college preparation, financial literacy, English skills, and more.
