AUGUST 2018
A Message From Mr. Robert Goodall
Monroe Township School District Acting Superintendent

On behalf of everyone in the district, I would like to welcome back our entire school community to begin school year 2018-19. I hope everyone enjoyed a restful and safe summer vacation. The maintenance and custodial staff have worked very hard to ensure our schools are cleaned and ready for the return of our teachers and students. The beginning of each new school year allows for a fresh start and an opportunity for success for every student. I look forward to visiting all of our district schools to meet the teachers, students, and parents that make up our entire school community.

At the June Board of Education meeting, I was approved to serve as the Acting Superintendent of Schools for the 2018-2019 school year, effective July 1, 2018. After serving the district for thirteen years as high school principal, I accepted an offer to serve in this new role because of the importance of administrative consistency and knowledge of the district needs. It comes during a very challenging time of climbing enrollment figures and the need for school referendums. As Acting Superintendent of Schools, I will be asking for your support this year as we work to put our students and staff in the best learning and teaching environments now and in the future. Further discussion on our district goals and projects will be forthcoming. I want to thank all of the staff at Central Office for assisting in my transition to this new role.

During the summer months, I had a chance to meet with district principals, supervisors, Board of Education members and community members to discuss some challenges we face as a district in terms of student growth, school security and facilities. We discussed many of these challenges, as well as important feedback, from our last referendum within our district Steering Committee to make recommendations to the Board of Education. As a result of that effort, the Board of Education passed a resolution at the August 22nd Board of Education meeting, to plan a responsible referendum project for the Spring of 2019. The details and plans for the new referendum will be forthcoming. Please continue to use the Falcon Flyer as an informational resource.

The Falcon Flyer, District Website, District App and Social Media, such as Facebook and Twitter, will be used to communicate to our entire community. Please refer to any of these sources provided by the district for accurate information pertaining to our schools and school community.
