NEWS FOR THE WEEK OF 09 /09/2019

What's new with the  SAHBA Student Chapter ?

On Friday, September 6th, we took a trip out to the Capital Area Career Center and met with this years students that are enrolled in the Building Trades and HVAC programs. There are about 80 students this year in both programs. We talked to the students about speakers coming in, to get an idea of different fields that they would be interested in. Of course, HVAC is an interest, along with masonry, framing, electricians, roofing, siding installers, plumbing, welding, and general carpentry. The students would also be interested in architectural as well, 3D drafting would be something they would like to know more about.  If you would be interested in speaking to the students, please call us! Most of this years students are juniors, and there are several seniors who came back to the program. Most are planning on going to work right after high school graduation, that would be interested in assistance with job placements, and  a handful wanting to go on to college that are interested in the scholarships that we offer.  It seemed quite a few were interested in joining the student chapter.
September GMM

The September GMM will be held at Roofers Mart and our speaker will be Josh Collins with the Land of Lincoln Economic Development Corporation.

CAPS Classes
October 23-25, 2019

Most people want to stay in their own home despite aging or becoming disabled. Remodelers and therapists certified in CAPS are trained to work with the homeowner to make it a safe and comfortable place for them to live for many more years. The three classes required to earn the CAPS designation detail the technical, business management and customer service skills essential to success for remodelers and therapists interested in incorporating modifications designed to enable homeowners to stay in their homes safely for a longer period of time. Endorsed by AARP, the CAPS designation has gained increased recognition in the marketplace and has become more popular among occupational therapists, Veterans Administration caseworkers and others who do business primarily with the aging population.
