Summer Ministry Highlights
We see many new things coming up around us at Community of Hope. Praise God for an awesome time of fellowship and welcome at our recent Faith and Family Day, coordinated with the new housing next door at the Street of Dreams! There were smiling faces as we welcomed people to our church and community! Thank you for all your help.

Precious children’s lives were also being renewed at the Royal Family Kids Camp at the end of July. Although these children have gone through very rough times in their early years, they experienced the renewing power of God’s love in Jesus Christ. Again, THANK YOU for your prayers, partnership and countless volunteer hours given to this powerful ministry.

Please pray for our ministry as we conclude the summer with our outreach at “Fun In The Park” on Aug. 3 and serve at the Foundation For His Ministry orphanage mission trip to Mexico, Aug. 9-17. God is faithful!
Fall Update
This fall, we are doing a “new thing” with worship times as well. Beginning September 8, we will have worship at 9:00 am (similar to current worship services, blended worship with songs/hymns/prayers) and at 10:30 am (new format with recent/current worship songs, and an emphasis on adding youth/young adult musicians). Mike Haines will continue to lead both worship services. We have decided to especially focus on the 10:30 am worship hour as one of outreach and evangelism, creating a worship experience that will focus on welcoming families, children and youth in our ever-growing community. There will be children’s and middle school Sunday School offered at the 10:30 am worship service, with childcare available at 9:00 am. High school Sunday education will happen between worship from 10-10:30 am. Adult Bible classes will be offered at 9:00 am, giving opportunities to worship and have Bible Study on Sunday morning.

In the midst of change that is all around us, in our church, community and world, the “one thing” that remains is the love of God in Jesus Christ and God’s Holy Word, the Bible, that guides us as a “lamp to our feet and a light to our path” (Psalm 119:105). We will be going through the entire Bible, September 8, 2019 through May 17, 2020, using “The Story” http://www.thestory.com/ as a great resource for ALL ages, studying the same themes each week in worship, community groups and with our children and youth ministry. Join a group! Go through the “40 days of prayer” in preparation for this powerful time in God’s Word!

Thank you for your prayers covering this season of renewal and change!

Together with you, serving Jesus,
Pastor John Foss
NOTE FROM COUNCIL: STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Community of Hope's greatest assets are its members and regular attenders, its many volunteers, and its church staff. We accomplish so many great things for Jesus through the efforts of all of us working together. We would like to show our appreciation for everybody that contributes to who we are and what we do in the name of Jesus. We decided to start this process by highlighting our dedicated Community of Hope employees over the next few monthly CoH Newsletters.

Henry Phillips - President
Brenda Melum - Vice President
Chuck Benson - Treasurer
Sara Bennett - Secretary
BJ Shrock - Worship Team
Jim Clutts - Adult Ministry Team
Steve Boone - Property Team
Julien Chambers - Fellowship Team
Brian Bippes - Children & Youth Ministry Team
Chris Utterback - Outreach Team
Connie Kenney - Social Concerns Team
Staff Spotlight: Jono
Jono has been on staff at COH as our pianist for the past 8 years. He loves his ministry at COH,

He also volunteers as a counselor at the Royal Family Kids Camp. Jono loves integrating his keyboard/piano talent with ministry. He finds it very meaningful when he can hear the pastor's message and then add a song that relates to the message during the offering or during communion. Jono has an amazing, God-given talent to "play by ear" and use music to add to our worship experience.

ADULT MINISTRIES
As we enter this last month of the Summer 2019, I am impressed with the extraordinary service to the kingdom, you all have done and are about to do! May you never grow weary in doing good!

We have served 10 breakfasts so far this Summer to approximately 750 people altogether! Well done! We have arrangements to serve 4 more breakfasts but one Sunday morning, August 18th no one has volunteered to serve. If you would like to be part of serving our church family on August 18th, please let me know.

We have been recognizing each one of our 10 Worship Volunteer Teams on the 15 Sundays this Summer by having them stand at our worship services. They all put on over 100 worship opportunities for us each year and many of them have been performing this service for many years. Praise the Lord and thank you!

If you would like to be part of one of these teams, please, let me know and I will arrange training for you. Several people serve on more than one team! Wow! In September, especially, when we return to two services each Sunday morning it would be so helpful to have additional members on our Communion and Ushering Teams. Thank you for all your support!
I am so excited to tell you about our Fall Campaign this year because it involves our whole church. Beginning in September we, children, youth and adults, will read through the entire Bible, together! Barna Research tells us that over 40% of Christians that own more than 3 Bibles have never read the whole thing! Since, I have been a member in good standing of that group, I am delighted to be part of providing our entire church family with the opportunity to not only to read the entire scripture but to do it with understanding!
Because this guided trip through scripture is so key to being able to witness to the unchurched, we began a 40 day discipline of daily seeking the Lord’s blessing on our journey beginning the 31st of July. We will continue it through the 8th of September, when we launch our The Story study. If you did not start the 40 days of prayer with us on July 31st, please, consider starting now. I am sure the Lord will be delighted to hear from you and we will be blessed in our unity. Prayer suggestions and scripture sheets are available in the entryway and electronically from Koko, anytime.
Watch for more information about our Fall Campaign “The Story” as we spend the month of August preparing.

A year ago, we were getting ready for Pastor Doug to retire. We didn’t know what the Lord would provide. Look what He has done. He has brought the mission field to our back yard! He has given us a wonderful Pastor John and his family. We have leadership that is faithfully sharing God’s word with us and equipping us as witnesses. These are exciting times!

“I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
