Indirect Cost Training - webinar series

Sound Transit will offer a ‘cost accounting-focused’ webinar series over the course of four (4) days. Bookended by shorter webinars, one (1) hour each, to increase the participants understanding of the subject matter.

  • Preliminary webinars: 6/3, 6/10 (1 hour each)
  • Webinar sessions: 6/17, 6/18, 6/24, 6/25 (4 hours each)
  • Post webinars: 7/1, 7/8, 7/15 (1 hour each)

The webinar content targets individuals whom perform tasks in finance and accounting. Registrants are highly encouraged to have access to their firm's accounting system, such as QuickBooks, available to during webinar.

The webinars are fun, interactive and collaborative. They will focus on creating a thorough understanding of how to develop indirect (administrative) rates for use on both government contracts and commercial efforts which result in optimum pricing.

Participants will gain a deep understanding of how to modify their accounting system to develop indirect rates. These modifications also result in very organized and easy to read financial statements. Participants will learn how to change the chart of accounts to create groups of similar costs with sequential numbering, essentially developing the ‘pools’ of costs that are vital to create ‘indirect rates’. Participants will modify their own books and records and will learn how to create spreadsheets for Government agencies reflecting their indirect rates based on the company’s actual costs. These webinars provide a comprehensive view of cost accounting, efficient use of accounting systems, and a thorough process to include administrative costs in the pricing of all products and services, ensuring profit is truly profit
