Dear St. Louis Families,
With our Christmas break just around the corner and the investigation by Fairfax County Health Department still ongoing, St. Louis School and Preschool will continue distance learning through next week. While this is not the conclusion of the semester we had planned, we hope this time at home will enable everyone to enjoy a healthy, joyful Christmas with loved ones and provide a “reset” for all to return healthy in January. To ensure a safe return to school, please know we will continue to reinforce good health and safety practices in school, and we ask again for your commitment and partnership in helping to keep our school community as healthy as possible moving forward. It is through your partnership that we have been able to provide in-person learning this Fall – and it will be critical in allowing us to safely return moving forward.
We ask that you be mindful when making your Christmas break plans and thoughtful in considering your child’s return to school in January. Please practice these protocols:
-
Take the daily wellness check seriously. If your child is not feeling well or you have any concerns completing the health check, we ask that you please reach out to us and keep your child home.
-
If you are traveling outside of the DMV area and will not be home by Monday, December 28th, please plan to e-Learn from home the week of January 4th.
- If the Virginia Department of Health issues any travel restrictions during this time, we will follow the state-imposed quarantine recommendations.
Fairfax County Health Department commended our swift action to move instruction online and credits our ongoing health mitigations with helping to combat the spread of COVID-19 within our school building. Despite our best efforts, please know that 5 classes are currently affected by the virus and over a dozen teachers and staff members have been impacted as well. St. Louis has not been the source of the virus, rather it is the non-school activities and events that has brought COVID-19 into our building and hindered our ability to provide in-person instruction. From this experience, we are reminded how important the imposed health protocols are in reducing the spread of the virus. Our success depends heavily on everyone doing their part—we are #BetterTogther, and we look forward very much to returning to the building in January and starting 2021 off positively and productively together.
Praying that you find the spirit and joy of the Advent Season with your loved ones!
Peace,
Anne M. Dyke
