Take Action: LCUL's 2020 Impact Survey Now Live
|
CUs Encouraged to Share Critical Data for Statewide Advocacy, Awareness Efforts
Last week, LCUL launched a 2020 impact survey in an effort to gather key metrics on credit union efforts in 2020 amid the pandemic.
It is extremely important when meeting with lawmakers, regulators, media, and other key stakeholders to position credit unions as the best financial partner for Louisiana consumers. We are asking credit unions to complete our 2020 Impact Survey so that we can compile, quantify and share the results of those efforts. The more participation from credit unions will allow for the most accurate information.
The survey will remain open through Wednesday, February 24. The requested information may not be easily accessible. Click here to preview the survey questions to determine who at your credit union is best suited to complete it.

CU Advocates: Mark Your calendars for Virtual Hill Visits!
|
One of most important elements of the CUNA GAC are Hill visits with members of our delegation. Although held virtually this year, participation in these meetings is more important now than ever. Credit union advocates have the option of sitting in their respective congressman’s session or participating in all.
The scheduled times for hill visits are:
- Tuesday, March 2 – 9-10:30 AM CST
- Wednesday, March 3 – 9-10:30 AM CST
- Thursday, March 4 – 9-11:00 AM CST
As past participants know, the congressional offices typically confirm date/time closer to the event. We will keep you updated as information becomes available. Please continue to check the League’s website.
Prior to our visits, LCUL will be hosting a brief Louisiana legislative update during a virtual happy hour on Monday, March 1 at 5:30 pm. The virtual event is open to everyone but registration is required. Click here to RSVP to the event.
As a reminder, you do not have to be registered for the CUNA GAC in order to participate in either the happy hour legislative briefing or the virtual 'Hike the Hill'. Questions? Contact LCUL’s Advocacy Department.
Our 2020 virtual ‘Hike the Hill’ is in conjunction with CUNA GAC, being held March 2-4. The event will host H.R. McMaster, Scott Gottlieb, Soledad O’Brien, and Kevin Carroll with topics ranging from healthcare policy in the age of Covid-19 to empowering positive change in your community.

November 2020 CU Trends Report Now Available
|
|
CUNA Mutual Group’s Credit Union Trends Report for November 2020 is now available online and can be accessed in the CU Products & Services section of our website, under the heading Performance and Data Resources.
During November, credit union loan balances rose 0.05%, below the 0.6% pace reported in November 2019. Driving overall loan growth was strong growth in fixed-rate mortgages (0.9%) and credit card loans (0.9%). Credit union savings balances rose 0.2% in November, lower than the 1.5% gain reported in November 2019 when the month ending on a payroll Friday. Credit union return-on-asset ratios came in at 0.65% (annualized) for the first nine months of 2020, the lowest since 2010, due to lower net interest margins, lower fee income and higher provision for loan losses.
For more information, view the complete report here . If you have problems accessing the information or have additional questions about the research and information services provided by the Louisiana Credit Union League, please contact Lynette Hazelton at (800) 452-7221, ext. 3012 or requests@lcul.com.
