Avoid travel on flood-prone road during heavy rains
While flooding has been minimal so far, the rainy season is far from over. All travelers are advised to use caution during heavy rains, particularly on Washington County roads that are prone to flooding.

Never drive, walk or bike on roads that appear to be under water. As little as six inches is enough to cause a driver to lose control of a car or to sweep bicyclists and pedestrians off the road. Visit Turn Around Don't Drown

Washington County Land Use & Transportation closes flood gates and/or erects barricades on flooded roads for traveler safety. Moving or driving around barricades is not only dangerous, but against the law, with a potential fine of $260. To report someone moving or traveling around a barricade, call the Washington County Sheriff’s Office nonemergency dispatch at 503-629-0111.
