HPL's 125th Anniversary!

When the Hinsdale Public Library first opened on August 15, 1893, it was only open nine hours a week to serve a population of 1,000 residents. We have grown in many ways since then and are excited to celebrate 125 years of library love with you!

Digital Resources

In a recent awareness survey, we asked about your familiarity with some of our newer online resources available to HPL cardholders. Mango Languages, Lynda.com, Brain HQ, and Flipster can be accessed via our Digital Resources page. Kanopy provides access to streaming films and documentaries. Hoopla offers music, movies, and more.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

On behalf of the 1,000 Books Foundation, we invite you to participate in this self-paced program. The goal is to reach 1,000 books before your child starts kindergarten. Benefits include a great bonding opportunity while building language, literacy, and social-emotional skills that will last a lifetime. Pick up a booklet in the Children's Department to get started.

Registration for the fall session of storytime is now open! Find your desired class on September 11, 12, or 13 and follow the registration prompt.

Fall Art Exhibit

New China: Performance of Self in Digital Culture

Works by Margaret Carsello Chiappetta

This body of work explores the complexities of a collective society at odds with a staggering restless population obsessed with digital culture and the emergence of a new sense of individualism. The exhibit, free and open to the public, is located in the Quiet Reading Room.

Join us and community experts for a conversation about Our Story: A Memoir of Love and Life in China by by Rao Pingru and Nicky Harman and Young China: How the Restless Generation Will Change Their Country and the World by Zak Dychtwald. Come discuss the topic; reading the books is optional. Limit 50 .
