Dear Roslyn Families,

As you undoubtedly know, positive cases of COVID-19 are on the rise on Long Island, due in large part by an increase in social activities during the holiday season. As a district, we have done everything we can to mitigate risk in our buildings and we will continue to cooperate with all the mandates put into place by New York State.

In order to safely reopen our schools after the holiday break, I urge you to follow the state guidelines and minimize any travel or activities that could jeopardize the safe environments that we have created for our students. The vaccine is coming, but this is not a time to let our guard down. Successfully navigating the next few months is going to take diligence and cooperation from the entire school community.

If you are planning to travel during the upcoming school break, it is crucial that you adhere to the New York State Travel Advisory and quarantine requirements for travelers. Full details about Governor Cuomo's Executive Order regarding travel can be found on the COVID-19 Travel Advisory page of the official New York State website.

It states that any traveler coming into New York State (who was out of the state for more than 24 hours and coming from a noncontiguous state, US territory, or CDC level 2 or level 3 country) must quarantine for 14 days unless they test before departure and then on day four of their return. A 14-day quarantine is mandatory for a return to school unless 2 negative tests are presented. 

Your adherence to this travel advisory strengthens the likelihood of the Roslyn School District being able to continue to provide in-person instruction in the coming year. Thank you for your continued cooperation. I wish you a safe and joyous holiday season.
