Identifying Tourist Flows in Florida to Forecast the Impact of Tourism Travel on Florida’s Transportation System  
UFTI Affiliate Dr. Andrei Kirilenko was the lead principal investigator on a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) grant-funded project that developed a component for the Florida Statewide Model (FLSWM) focusing on tourism traffic as a means of forecasting tourism traffic flows in the state. With Florida as a popular tourist destination that receives more than 100 million visitors a year, understanding where these drivers want to go is especially important for planners. Read more.

How UFTI is Evaluating Mobility under COVID-19
COIVD-19 continues to affect the lives of millions of people around the world with deleterious effects to the economy. Understanding where and how people are traveling, and the decision-making process associated with travel, will be key to assisting agencies in assessing emergency responses and preparing for major public health calamities in the future. At the UFTI, affiliated researchers such as Dr. Jing Du and Dr. Siva Srinivasan, are working on projects to evaluate the impacts of the pandemic on mobility and transit. Read more.

STRIDE Center Research Showcased during Student Video/Poster Competition
A total of 15 research projects were showcased by students affiliated with the UFTI's STRIDE Center during a live, online event on January 29, 2021. Dr. Lily Elefteriadou, professor and director of the UFTI, has been invited to speak at the Institute of Transportation Engineers Florida-Puerto Rico District during their Winter Workshop on February 25, 2021, from 12 PM to 1 PM, ET.
