Dear Members,

What a busy month it has been here at EAP! Last week we hosted a special code change class which drew over 100 attendees from a variety of industry segments including contractors, engineers and inspectors. We also had manufacturer and distributor members as well as industry partners support the event, adding even more value to the attendee experience. Check out the recap below and view pictures from the day. Next month we plan to welcome nearly 20 new members who saw the value in EAP from just this one event!

Also included in this issue of EA Extra is information on Steve McClatchy's Time Management & Personal Leadership Workshop. I have had the pleasure of participating in this class, and other talks by Mr. McClatchy; I can't recommend him enough. If you have a rising star in your company, consider sending them to this workshop; you won't be disappointed. Space is limited, learn more below.

Have a happy and safe Labor Day weekend!

Stay Sane and Profitable: 2014 NEC Code Change Class a Hit!

Code education certainly isn't the most entertaining subject on the planet. When you have the dynamic duo of Michal Hofkin
     Rich and Mike
and Rich Van Wert as your instructors, you can guarantee they will keep the audience's attention. That is exactly what they did last Thursday at our 2014 NEC Code Change Class! We would like to extend a special thanks to our instructors, sponsors, and exhibitors for making the day such a success.

If you missed this class or if you conduct commercial work in the city of Philadelphia, don't worry. We have more classes ahead this fall. Check out our course schedule  here

Worker Safety Reminders from PECO and PA One Call
Work Safely Around Electric and Natural Gas Lines

Five Steps for Safe Excavation:
  1. Plan your job, and pre-mark your dig area with white paint, flags and/or stakes.
  2. Call 811 before any excavation starts (remember - EAP pays your PA One Call bill as a benefit of membership!)
  3. Wait the required time for lines to be marked. In Pennsylvania, wait at least three business days (excluding weekends and state holidays).
  4. Respect the marks when digging.
  5. Dig with care and follow hand-excavating rules.
If you find an unmarked line, stop digging and call 811 immediately.
