OPENING NIGHT of the 8th Annual Juried Art Show at The Cedars . The show can be viewed Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. through the month of September. This year's exhibition was juried by international award-winning artist Laurin McCracken and evolved from 300 entries from more than 100 artists across the state. This year's exhibition was underwritten by Jan and Lawrence Farrington and Butler Snow, LLP . Click HERE for a list of winners in each category.

Frances Fortner Mural Now a Fondren Landmark

The mural commissioned by Laurilyn and Tom Fortner is now an official landmark in the Fondren Business District on the south wall of Fondren Corner. The mural features a self-portrait created by the Fortners' daughter, Frances , who was killed in a May 2018 car accident. Scott Allen of A Plus Signs & Creative, Inc ., spearheaded the project in conjunction with the Fondren Renaissance Foundation, with artistic input from Laurilyn Fortner, Frances' mother.
Skateboarders tackle Fondren Hill on Saturday!

Slalom skateboarders from 9 states were in Fondren on Saturday, competing in the Luna Slalom Jam competition on Fondren Hill, sponsored by Visit Mississippi , Swell-o-Phonic , Roosters , Visit Jackson and Browns Fine Art and Framing .
Symphony at Sunset returns for 18th Year

The Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, returns to The Cedars for its 18th outdoor concert on September 19th, with a full program of pops music and light classics. The concert is free to the public and made possible by the Fondren Renaissance Foundation and Blue Cross.

Lawn opens at 6 p.m., concert begins at dusk, around 7 p.m.

This year's Symphony at Sunset will honor Betsy and Bill Nation for their many contributions to the Fondren community. The Mary Jo McAnally Volunteer of the Year recipients are Jennifer and Derek Emerson .

A number of corporate tables are available for $1,500 and include reserved seating for 8 with box dinners and libations with two reserved parking passes on the grounds of The Cedars . To reserve a corporate table, EMAIL by Friday, September 13.

The symphony will round out the evening with music from the Magnificent Seven, a tribute to Elvis Presley, compositions and arrangements by Henry Mancini and John Williams.

Blankets, chairs, picnics are welcome!
