Westland wants to know: what do residents imagine for the future?
Input sessions planned for the redesign of the Ford Road Corridor
Westland, MI (August 29, 2018) -   Westland's Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is working on a master plan for the former City Hall site and the entire Ford Rd. corridor that will provide the framework for future development opportunities. Residents and business owners are invited to attend sessions to share their input.  All events will be held at Westland City Hall, located at 36300 Warren Rd.  

"The redevelopment of the former City Hall property has the opportunity to be transformational for the identity of our community  and we want our residents and business owners to be part of the planning and to play an active role in the City's future," said Mayor William R. Wild. "The sessions are designed as workshops for creative ideas to flow."

Session dates                  

Wednesday, September 12
Noon - 1 p.m.
Topic: Ford Road Corridor Bus Tour: Participants will learn to identify and quantify what they like abut Ford Road's buildings, streets, and public spaces and visit former City Hall site.

Thursday, September 13
Noon - 1 p.m.
Topic: Learn about planning walkable communities and share vision  for the Ford Road corridor over the next 20 years through a series of activities.

Friday, September 14
Noon - 1 p.m.
Topic: Learn about mobility, transportation and non-motorized best practices and share your vision  for the Ford Road corridor over the next 20 years.

Saturday, September 14
Noon - 1 p.m.
Topic: Revealing the ideas generated throughout the workshops. The basis for the Reimagined Ford Road Master Plan will be unveiled.

The Westland DDA is also holding a design workshop for the TIFA District, including the redevelopment of the Westland Shopping Center site in October.  Details on the date and time of this session will be announced next month.
