TAKE A BREAK AND PLEASE READ THIS SUMMER NEWSLETTER, CHOCK FULL OF EXCITING AND USEFUL INFORMATION.

To the left are links for forms, reading lists, tuition, health and athletics....... If you'd prefer to pick up one or more of these forms at the main school office, please contact Mrs. Evans at [email protected].

The updated EFT form is available. If your family had automatic tuition deductions last year and no account information has changed YOU DON'T HAVE TO FILL OUT THE FORM AGAIN! If you have bank changes or wish to discontinue auto withdrawal, contact Jane Bandyk before August 10th at [email protected]

Readers Are Leaders! There's required summer reading for students in grades 4-8 and suggested reading for younger students. It's summer, but remember 4th-8th - there could be a quiz! The 8th graders in Math Accel class received a summer packet in June. Mrs. Mekeel anticipates all completed packets to be turned in the first day of school, so if you need another, contact Mrs. Evans or phone a friend.

All adults who volunteer and are with the children, must complete the Archdiocese Protecting God's Children program. Even though it was never difficult to complete in the past it has now been made even easier. The instructions are below.

East Campus parents please see the Orientation Schedule. A typo had been discovered in the previously sent Pre3 schedule.

It's not too late to turn in your Pizza Day Lunch order form. A milk form should be turned in for each child. Please return one marked "no milk" vs. not returning one. Back packs are known to occasionally eat paper and I can't assume no milk is ordered for lack of form. Can anyone identify this attached form?

See the bottom of the "Dress Code" article for information on the upcoming opportunity to order gym uniforms online from Printing 4U.

Fee day is August 15th from 9am-12 Noon. TBD if there will be an accompanying Uniform Grab N' Go. Stay tuned......

Main Campus office will reopen full time Wednesday, August 1st.

Dear SFX Families,

There are things for people to do that are entirely on your own time. Browse through the categories and see which ones are calling your name!

August 2018 - Grade Level Leadership Volunteer Sign-up
After class lists are available in August, this volunteer sign-up is for Room Parent, Art Smart, or Service volunteers for your child's specific class. (Please note that room parents primarily assign roles and send reminder emails for a volunteer list created with the teacher's help.)

Bottom line, there are many ways for parents to be involved. If you would like more details about any specific volunteer opportunity, please don't hesitate to reach out to FSA. We will help you find the answer or the right person to answer your questions. Don't forget to complete the Protecting God's Children Program which is required by the Archdiocese of Chicago to volunteer with the children.  VOLUNTEER'S MANDATORY COMPLIANCE FOR THE "PROTECTING GOD'S CHILDREN" PROGRAM

All Catholic Dioceses and Archdioceses have instituted programs whereby they are taking all possible steps to ensure the safety of our children. A very important part of these programs involves doing criminal background checks on all employees and individuals who come in direct contact with our children. All volunteers at St. Francis Xavier are in this category.
We encourage all parents to give serious consideration to completing this program, since only adults who have completed the required components may volunteer in the day school, school of religious education or parish in any way with our children.

The Office for the Protection of Children & Youth has streamlined the registration process and submission of background check for volunteers. Now all parent volunteers (who have not already completed the program)are asked to visit:
http://www.virtusonline.org  where you will register for a Virtus session called Protecting God's Children for Adults. When you do, volunteers will also be asked to submit their background check in the Virtus System that will include these required documents:  Download the DCFS/CANTS form and the Code of Conduct form.  Complete and sign each form and send to Mrs. Peggy Evans at the Main Campus Office. Your registration in the Virtus site will provide information for a background check which you will authorize on the last page.

Step by step instructions for the Virtus site process can be found by clicking this link

Thank you for volunteering your time and talents to St. Francis Xavier School. If you'd like to check your level of completion, please contact Mrs. Evans at either 352-2175 or [email protected].

The school office is willing and eager to accept donated 8.5 x 11 paper and envelopes of any size. If you or your family and friends know of a business who will be changing their stationary, please consider SFX as the home of the soon to be discarded. Those families who have been here awhile remember many things sent home on the back side of various company logos. Call Mrs. Peggy Evans with questions. Thank you for your consideration!

Dress Code
Parents are asked to make sure that their child(ren) are in uniform before leaving home. Students in grades 1- 8 wear school uniforms as described here. Preschool and kindergarten students do not wear school uniforms.
Students may not wear ripped, torn clothing or anything with questionable wording / slogans. Level of 'acceptableness' is at that sole discretion of the administration. If a child is wearing something deemed unacceptable, the office will attempt to supply a gym uniform to change into, or the parent will be called and asked to bring in a change of clothing.
Homeroom teachers will ensure that students comply with the dress code each day. Consequences will be given for breaking dress code. Repeated instances of uniform violation will be referred by the homeroom teacher to an administrator. If a student is not in compliance with the summer uniform, he/she may lose the privilege of wearing summer uniform.
